Alaska will miss deadline for Palin emails, but hold on a bit longer...

With the state's deadline of May 31 fast approaching for the long-delayed release of 25,000 emails sent between former Gov. Sarah Palin (and her husband) and state officials, the Alaska governor's office on Tuesday sought another delay.

This delay will be brief, and the records should be ready by June 10, the governor's office said in asking for permission from the state attorney general for a new delay.

As we have reported, the delays so far have amounted to a couple of weeks longer than the time than Sarah Palin spent as governor of Alaska.

News organizations requested the emails under the state public records law back in 2008, when the relatively unknown Palin burst onto the national scene, and when it became known that she and her staff were using personal Yahoo accounts to conduct state business outside the usual reach of public records requests. The records to be released include emails that went between Palin or her husband and about 50 top state officials. The state at first quoted prices as high as $15 million for the records, but the price is now down to 3 cents a page.

The office of the current governor is still going over the emails, deciding which ones should be withheld under exemptions to the public records law.

When the emails are released, msnbc.com plans to put them online in a public archive, in cooperation with other news organizations, as it did with a batch of Todd Palin emails last year. Those emails showed the vigorous role the "First Dude" played in the operation of state government. Here is that archive.

The Anchorage Daily News has the details here.

And here is our previous coverage, with details on the requests, the state's explanation of the delays, and the shifting estimates of the costs.

The full background on our request, and the delays, is in our previous articles, below:

No, I believe they would like a little scrutiny of our president by our liberal mainstream media rather than trying to destroy a woman who currently is a private citizen. It's no wonder Fox News beats the other 'news' networks.

She wasn't a private citizen when she wrote the e-mails, nitwit. And she was trying to skirt the FOIA laws at the time. Bush and Rove did the same thing. There is a pattern here of the RE-peat-the-lie-to-the-PUBLIC-ans trying to hide their activities while ostensibly doing "the peoples'" business on our dime.

If Bush and Rove get to "hide" their E-mails for ten years and disappear others forever, you shouldn't have any problem with Obama being able to do the same thing. Not that he has even tried to do that as yet.

No. He just hides his true agenda from the American people until it's too late.

Didn't Cheney hide his agenda..........the "Energy Task force meetings" before the IRAQ O.I.L (Operation Iraqi Liberation) and 9/11, the justification for encircling IRAN with our troops?

Well, well, well-Why does Palin not want her emails released? To hear her tell it, she is God's gift to America and only she can save it.

Come on Sarah baby, release those emails!

Why must they all be released at once in one large DUMP?????? Certainly 10,000 of them have been ready for release for two years already. Each days work product should be released the next day after review. This is ridiculous.

Palin is afraid of those emails and what they will reveal about her -- but her sheep will follow her blindly....

what is her problem? If she is so squeaky clean, you would think she would not have an issue with this. I agree that the people who love her will continue to do so, no matter what the emails say. She always says she's a "victim" of the media....she is a victim of herself.

I continue to be baffled by the fact that members of either party, the demopublicans and the republicrats, fail to see that the end result of their vote is, "same thing, different person," and that defending the behavior of any of these non-representatives of the American people is indefensible in itself.

America is now, at every level, the Chicago of the twenties; the criminals are running the prison, and it is a prison, look at the Home-Land-NON-Security/We-Are-Watching-Your-Every-Move-Act.

The simple idea that anyone is allowed to cherry-pick which correspondence should be turned-over to the persons who want it, when it is supposed to be "public information" is preposterous and illegal; Chicago again, however, to keep it Chicago-like, that will never be addressed.

The mainstream media as controlled by the criminals will NEVER tell us the truth, if what passes for journalists would even recognize it if they saw it. There will be NO MORE WATERGATES, just like there will be NO MORE DEMONSTRATIONS LIKE THE 60"s. Those events were studied and they will not be allowed to happen again.

We, the American people, are faced every day with a government that at every level says; "you got a problem?" "You got a problem with us?" "What do you think you're going to do about it?"

You see, this doesn't have to be some conspiracy theory mess, it is far easier than that. Agreed, there may be a conspiracy at the top of the mess, 'behind closed doors,' however, all that was really needed was a way for the top-dog to get away with things. Once the top-dog found a way to escape scrutiny all of the other dogs found a way to become, 'not responsible for anything or to anyone,' and the basics of ascending to the bottom took care of the rest.

You want to know who the criminals in our government are, 'FOLLOW-THE-MONEY.' Show me an elected official, they used to be called "Public Servants," but that term certainly does not fit 99% of them today, who leaves office with less money than they went in with! American politics was not intended to make a ruling class and it was not intended to make a ruling class wealthy. American politics was intended to do the necessary business of running the country according to the Law-Of-The-Land. When was the last time you saw that happen?

Does anyone in America really believe that any documentation of any kind, in America, can't be produced in ten days or less? Really?

Do you think that everything that you and I are writing couldn't be produced in twenty-four-hours by the criminals who are watching me write this at this moment? Really? Do you honestly believe that you are not being watched and paid attention to as a criminal at this moment? Really!

The internet is a wonderful thing, I use it as an informational and educational tool every day, so do the bad guys with the badges in America!

You really need to get this through your head: it's them or us, you are either a cop, or a criminal, and that is true at every level. The higher you go in the system, the more contempt you find for anything below, and you and I, who are supposed to be at the TOP, are at their mercy, on bottom. Don't believe that? Go board an aircraft and be subjected to more personal intrusion than it takes to visit a prison; it isn't for YOUR safety, it is to get you used to being under their thumb, to humiliate you and get you used to doing what you are told you MUST do for your own good. It is a lie!

Some of the American people gave the power of ALL of the American people away, gave it away. It does not matter why they gave the power away, it only matters that we must as American people rectify our mistake and take the power of the American people BACK, back soon, or it W
              ILL become too late.

Think your government is listening to what you want or say in any meaningful way? AMERICA IS BEING INVADED and the American government is using the invasion OF America as a tool to get what they want and to enrich certain groups while breaking the backs of others and the unions that they swore that they were protecting with FREE TRADE, NAFTA, ETC.

Do you still think that defending Any politician in this land is a good idea?

Bush, rams through a lie to invade a sovereign nation because he wants to.

Bush, rams through the Patriot Act, an Un-Constitutional piece of criminality and, an oxymoron perpetrated on the American people to get control of the American people.

allahabama and his magical "transparent government." Sure, if you are Superman and can see through closed doors.

allahabama and the Health Care Bill that must be passed like the Bush invasion of Iraw, without reading and right now, before it's too late.

allahabama and the ram through of the extension of the Anti-American Un-Patriotic Act that was not read, and will not be read by the people we elected to do "the basics, of running OUR country.

Do you really see any difference? Any!

If the government wants to see your or my email, they will have them by dark if they want them, illegal or not.

Why BOLD? So people over forty can read it, AND:

because, this is hugely important stuff that IS NOT being dealt with by the LAZY, SELF-CENTERED, ENTITLED and IGNORANT, POLITICALLY UNEDUCATED, SLOTHFUL, people in America.

That leaves it to YOU, and ME, US!

We are the ones who are watching them, watch us.

It does seem to someone not of your country, that the national American answer to all problems is to kill people. When will you learn that ALL governments leak documents if it suits their agenda, Mr Assange is not even an American citizen and your only response is to want to kill him along with the member of the armed forces that provided him with the information. The American government is not it seems, above finding a way of accusing any person of any nationality of any crime in order to then apply for an extradition warrant against them. Maybe if your government weren't quite so gun happy in order to protect cheap oil supplies, then the rest of the world might just not be so anti-american.
