One of Palin's former aides penned a tell-all book about the abbreviated administration of the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate.
The complaint by Republican activist Andrée McLeod alleged that Frank Bailey used confidential emails, which were being withheld from the public, to write "Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin," his tell-all book about the abbreviated administration of the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate.
The settlement was reached last week and disclosed Tuesday when the attorney general's office informed McLeod.

The fines are described in the settlement as $3,600 for using confidential information in drafting his book, $7,200 for disclosing confidential information to his co-authors, and $1,100 for publishing information after the state Department of Law told him it was confidential. The settlement said Bailey withheld more information on the advise of the state lawyers.

McLeod issued a statement on Tuesday saying more disclosure is needed:
“Justice has yet to be served. I have called on the Attorney General to reveal all the public’s documents and emails that Bailey confiscated and shared with others when he left state employment.”
McLeod and members of the media have requested all of Palin’s email communications for the time she was Alaska’s governor. Although some have been revealed, many couldn’t be located because of Palin’s rampant use of private email accounts for official business, and thousands more remain undisclosed as Alaska’s governor’s office cites executive privileges and other delay tactics.
“Every one of those confidential and still undisclosed public documents that were in Bailey’s possession must be made public, immediately, as Bailey broke the chain of custody when he illegally shared them with his co-authors Jeanne Devon and Ken Morris,” McLeod said.
“This is the second time that Sarah’s go-to guy has been found to have crossed the line. The first was back in November of 2008 when I filed another complaint against Sarah and her staff, including Bailey,” McLeod said.
McLeod continues, “This agreement proves, yet again, that Sarah Palin’s account of her role in reforming Alaska’s government while governor is truly the only real ‘false narrative’ being bandied about.”

Justmy, Apparently you do not read much. With almost 100,000 pages supplied, the Democrats could not find one unethical thing Palin did. What they found was a governor working hard for her state. I guess that was a payback for the Swift boat group. But, the state of Alaska had to spend thousands of dollars and person hours to get them their mud - but they couldn't find any mud. So tired of all thepetty Bs , both from the politicians, and the people on these blogs.

@Syrinne- I read the article this morning at 6 AM eastern time and his full name was in the article. That was well within the first nine hours of it being posted. Read slower and do not rush through the article without understanding it. Yes his full name was in the article from the start.

NBC was told if we could only see Gov. Palin's emails we would find the smoking gun. Opps! How did that lie work out for NBC? It embarrassed them. NBC's coverage of Palin is starting to look small and petty. NBC will report on the movie Game Change but ignore the new movie Reelz Channel has picked based on the documentary "The Undefeated" about the rise of Palin to the national stage and will air it one night after HBO debuts its fictionalized film "Game Change," also about Palin.
Everyone involved in the poorly sourced Game Change is on the NBC payroll. Nicole Wallace, who has been caught in several lies, Steve Schmidt, and the authors all work for NBC.

Maybe its time to get off your parents PC and get ready for school. A sentence that reads NBC's coverage of Palin is starting to look small and petty does not mean Gov. Palin is small and petty, it means NCB is small and petty. All fourth graders are taught this.
The fact that Palins documentary is titled "The undefeated", only tells you how accurate it is. It should be called "The defeated that quit".

@bassinapple: note that facts; Palin repeatedly violated policy and ethics practices by using private accounts for conducting official state business. We can only speculate on what tales that would tell if that information was publicly available, but who cares, she's damaged her reputation and credibility with the vast majority of thinking Americans a long time ago. Better check out the other news media they are all covering this story. It will also come out how much dirty pool she played and used others to make herself look better. Well her plan has backfired and she is looking like a pile of moose dung. Don't forget that she charged the taxpayers of Alaska $1000.00 a night to live in her own home while away from the state capitol. This is the reason why she spent the majority of her unfinished term at her home. She made hundreds of thousands of dollars just off this scam. How the state legislature let her get away with is beyond me, oh wait they are fellow Republicans with their hand in the till doing the same thing.
Her "ROVIAN" tactics of using personal email to do government business, so that she could then argue that the emails would have to be vetted, at her leisure, before they could be released under FOIA, should not be rewarded. The rule should be the other way around. You failed to safeguard your own privacy by failing to keep the two things separate. All should be released, and those that are going "LOST" can easily be recovered by the NSA. This is a governmental SCAM.
Well Sarah lied to the people of Alaska so why would she not lie in this supposed truthful documentary. She charged the taxpayers of Alaska $1000.00 a night to stay in her own home when she was away from her office in the capitol. she was at her home at a minimum of 80% so that turns into hundreds of thousands of dollars that she made on top of her salary. then to top it off she broke her promise to the people of Alaska by not finishing her term as govenor. She took an oath of office and broke it because she was afraid of being impeached. That investigation is still going and maybe this little thing she is helping to cover up with her aide will be her downfall finally. When all of the e-mails that are tied to her are found and opened she will be going to prison and put into a cell with a bull dyke.

The Republican party is spending a lot of money with attorneys to keep those e-mails hidden. When they do come out a lot of people will slip and fall then end up in prison. All of her e-mails have not been brought forth. She left the office of govenor breaking her oath of office to the people of Alaska so she could not be impeached. Somehow she is able to keep her ass out of trouble but it will eventually all come out and I hope it is NBC breaking the news because it will be the truth unlike Fox news.
Sorry, but your conspiracy theory is hooey. No one ever contended that there was a smoking gun in Palin's public records. What was clear was that she and her staff had taken extraordinary measues to hide public records from the public, so we requested them and made them available to the public. Let's make sure we keep the proper focus here - Mr. Bailey paid the fine for HIS ethical breaches - he did not pay them on behalf of Palin nor was Palin cited for ethical breaches (this time ! !).
Tell that to all the taxpayers she stole from. For example she charged the taxpayers $1000.00 a night to stay in her own home when she was away from the capitol. In turn she was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars as she spent 80% of her time at her home. the state legislature was stupid to let her get away with it but the Republicans controlled things at the time so they were probably doing the same thing.
He paid a fine, but what is not clear is why? Those emails were in a private Yahoo account not a government account. Is the state of AK overstepping? Some may think so.

The evidence continues to confirm that putting Sarah Palin in any position of authority (e.g. where there is even the remotest possibility of her handling the launch codes of the strategic forces of the United States) would be a mistake. She can't follow even the simplest rules .... even though she is a simpleton herself.
Sarah Palin probably helped this aide in getting into the e-mails in question. So she is probably covering her ass big time. Talk about ethics how about when she was govenor of Alaska she charged the taxpayers $1,000.00 a night to stay in her own home when she was away from the state capitol. So not only was she being paid well she also took more money than what she should have received. So hundreds of thousands of dollars for living in her own home. Then do not forget all of the out of state trips she took with her entire family tagging along and getting separate rooms for the kids and all the meals paid for by the taxpayers of Alaska and how about the clothes shopping. I'm sure this is just the tip of the iceberg on her cheating taxpayers out of their hard earned money. She is an evil woman who lacks any moral values at all. Don't forget she broke her promise to the taxpayers of Alaska by not finishing her term in office that promise being the oath of office. Things were getting hot with upcoming investigations that are still going on. So I guess quitting and breaking your oath was more important than being impeached.

Let's see how far this goes. Hilary Clinton bought a house in New York so she could run for Senator. She didn't live there yet she was able to run. Rented the house out to the US Government, paid for by the taxpayers, in order to accomodate the security required for the first lady. Was this right? The rent was a whole lot more than a $1,000. per night. Covered her house payment. Plus the Clinton's raided the WH of furniture paid for by the taxpayers when they left office.
If you work at home you normally get compensated by your company for the use of your home. Nothing illegal like the Clinton's. I wonder if she claimed this on her tax return?

As I listen to Obama today discussing green energy. Not gas which he stated previously would not be a bad thing if it were $8.00 per gallon like Europe. Instead he is demonizing the gas industry again and suggesting more money to green industries. NO more bailouts or subsidies. We as a nation cannot afford to support his earmarks and buddies. And please don't even consider the idea of seaweed or algae as a source of fuel anymore. You are talking about taking away the food sources of our marine life. Besides look what happened to grocery store prices for food when you started using corn again.

I am an independent. I do not understand why conservatives and republicans are not embarrassed about Palin, Bachmann and the current crop of republican candidates for president. I am from Texas and I am embarrassed as hell about Rick Perry and G. W. Bush (although I will admit G. W. is not in the same league as the others). Poll from Oct (CBS) had only 23% of GOP wanting her to even run in 2012 (Not that they would have voted for her) and a Fox Poll From August had it at 25% of Republicans. When less than a quarter of your own party wants you to even run, you are truly dead meat.
And none of us would 'shoot her in the back' as you insinuate...our attacks are direct and head on, proudly given and deeply felt. We face the enemy head on, and Palin is a true enemy of the American People, Freedom and justice.
