Members of elite Secret Service unit among those suspended in Colombia

Dan Emmett, a former Secret Service agent and author, NBC News' Michael Isikoff and Washington Post's Dana Milbank discuss the unfolding scandal in Colombia in which members of the service allegedly procured prostitutes.

Two Secret Service supervisors and three members of the agency's elite Counter-Assault Teams were among the 11 agents sent back from Colombia and placed on administrative leave over allegations that they brought prostitutes to their hotel rooms in Cartagena, law enforcement officials tell NBC News.

The involvement of Counter-Assault Team (CAT) members-- who are not members of the Uniformed Division, but full-fledged Secret Service agents -- ratchets up the seriousness of the incident, officials said.  The heavily armed agents play a key role in protecting the president, serving as part of any presidential motorcade, usually a few cars back from the president's. Their responsibility is to "neutralize" any attack "as quickly as possible," according to the Secret Service website.

"Their job is to fend off a heavy assault on the motorcade to give POTUS a chance to flee to a safe locale," one law enforcement source familiar with the investigation told NBC News, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The source said the two of the CAT team members were directly involved in the dispute with one of the prostitutes at the Hotel Caribe that led to the scandal. After bringing back the prostitute to their hotel room, the agents reportedly got into a dispute with one of the women when she complained she hadn’t been paid. The woman then went to the Colombian police -- who reported the matter to the U.S. Embassy.

Others involved in the incident include three members of the Secret Service Counter-Sniper Team, which is part of the Uniformed Division.

The source also said the incident raised the possibility of a potential security breach, telling NBC News that all Secret Service personnel had been given copies of the president's schedule, which they are told to lock up in a safe in their hotel rooms.

Michael Isikoff is an NBC News national investigative correspondent.

I can't blame the secret service at all... over worked, and unappreciated by employers who don't respect them but demand the highest level of 'worship' and adulation. They should be reprimanded as the position requires it, but I've not lost any admiration for the job they do very well!

They (every secret service member)are required and do respect and honor the position...and will take the bullet if necessary, but I can't blame them if they don't like the individual in that position.

How large of an ASSumption can one make? How do you know they didn't pay the women, and the women complained anyway just to create a scene? You don't, and you're an ASS for making such a stupid ASSumption. You honestly believe that Colombian women wouldn't try and get more money out of the POTUS staff? That's just stupid!

Frankly, I don't see how this would affect their ability to protect the president based on the description of their duties between the neutralize team and counter snipers. It would be one thing if they were out boozing and whoring it up the night before they needed to be on active duty with the president in person, but this seems like a lot of nothing to me.

Seems to me that if they were there to mitigate risks, it was unspoken that this was a business not pleasure trip. If there was sensitive information in their rooms, they should have never allowed 'guests' to come up. Sounds like they were doing a crappy job on this trip and deserved punishment.

Who knows how long this kind of thing has been going on. Like the Navy Tail Hook scandal, this is the kind of thing that those involved should know better. Objectifyining women and using them as hookers just is not something the elite protecitive force should be doing.

Well, I guess the Secret Service is going to be joining the rest of the world in the 21st Century.

Just goes to show how far up the political ladder "lazy" effects our gov't employees. Their job is to protect POTUS and minimize risk while in possession of confidential materials. If you need to bang Columbian hookers, at least have the intelligence to do it elsewhere and off the clock.

what is going to be reported, they were on duty, doing undercover work with the local people, they were up all night getting a grip on the situation, and were poking around looking for clues.

Isn't the real question "why are they paying for what so many others willing give away?"

What it just a matter of being able to meet the prez's schedule - cut to the chase? Sometimes one has to pay for the convenience of having something readily available - thus the concept of the corner market. He shouldn't have expected big box discounts at the convenient corner "$h!t 'n Git". He should have negotiated before servces were rendered unless he felt he didn't get full value.

Both the State Department and the Dept of

Soldiers/Sailors/Airmen/Marins may not engage prostitutes because it promotes
slavery. They are apparently guilty of more than personal indiscretion.

I think the reason they were sent home was because they brought them back to their rooms. I'm sure the powers that be don't especially care if they engage in extra curricular activities when not on duty, but allowing them into their rooms was a breach of security. Paid or not, the women should not have been there.

I need to take another direction from the comments here. I have been around some of these agents - and all I can say is that there is NO WAY ON EARTH I would want their job. They live in a very serious world. Clearly they made a BIG mistake. Reprimand yes. Fire no. Very few people (men and women) can do this type of job.

Let me be more specific - if you every get a chance to stand near or be with the President out in the public, you can easily become a little afraid of these guys. No smile. One thought on their mind, to protect the president. My one thought - was to not sneeze or make any move unless all knew what I was doing. Impressed - you bet. These guys know every day they will die. So give them a break.

Message to Lance Johnson - 5076203 regarding your comment:

If we arrested every army or navy guy that slept with a hooker, we wouldn't have anybody protecting our country.

As the wife of one of those Army "guys" (he's a Major - a rank he's earned - not a ''guy") I'm offended by your pathetic comment. It presumes that all Army and Navy soldiers, regardless of rank, have entertained hookers. That's not true, and it's a slap in the face of all soldiers who are faithful to their spouses, families and the United States.

No one hopes that the people involved in this are severely disciplined more than I do. As far as I'm concerned the Secret Service Agents should lose their jobs and the pensions and the military personnel should be dishonorably discharged and also lose their pensions.

The sad fact about this situation is that so many people who did nothing wrong will suffer from collateral damage. Lance Johnson - the person quoted at the beginning of this message insinuated that all military members utilize hookers which is not true - that comment hurts those who serve with honor. It also hurts the family members because it insinuates that spouses like mine are cheating on me and on our family.

There is a problem here that has been brought to light because of what happened in Columbia. But let's place the blame on the people that were involved and not those who were in Columbia who were not involved and those who were not there who serve this country with dignity and honor.

Dachs- Very well said. Thank you for your service as a Military Family. And an extra thank you for those who put themselves in danger, at every level, in service of our Country.

I do not question the difficulty of the position of the Secret Service. But we all know when crossing that line- ethical, or legal, a heavy price will be paid. Scary to think that the lack of judgement involved so many.

Period. In my opinion, everyone involved on every level has to be held accountable. And some counseling for everyone else may be a good idea.

The vast majority of men in the military do seek prostitutes, ask people in the military and they will tell you. Until you've actually been in the military, you'd know what really goes on, being married to a military man doesn't give you the whole picture. But answer this: how is it dishonorable to our country if they have sex with prostitutes? You know that Men have sexual needs that need to be satisfied, they aren't robots, and it does a lot to increase morale. Military life is very stressful and our men need anything to take the ease off and we need to understand that it may involve them drinking and/or spending time with prostitutes.

Simple solution to a stupid problem. Keep your zipper up.

Isn't it time for our society to stop excusing men for their "needs" at the same time we are damning women for providing the solution to those "acceptable" needs? Women are consistently damned for their sexuality while the men are boasting about how many women they have used.

These are supposedly men that have a grave responsibility and I would think that simply the gravity of their job should be adequate to keep their pants shut. Quit excusing bad behavior on the part of the boys - unless you are willing to forgive the behavior of the girls. It's about time we found an equal epither for men who cannot control their "needs" as ugly as the one we use for women that serve that "need'.

It would be nice to see a few women with the same repugnance of the dichotomy in our society.

Other than religious people with a superiority complex and a few scornful women, I don't see anybody else daming women for earning extra cash being with men. Most people understand that as long as she isn't being forced into prostitution and no other harm is being done, then it's ok.

Exactly. Sometimes the press needs to stfu about certain details. Really though, how stupid of these guys in the first place? If they want to pay for sex that's their business, but at least have the common sense to pay the sex workers for their services. Now this has led to the destruction of many careers and a big stain on the reputation of the Secret Service. I don't think that all of the agents were involved but due to the ignorance of others their careers are probably over too.

In their eagerness to report/speculate every item about this scandal, NBC news has indeed

caused a serious security breach. They didn't need to mention the president's schedule being kept in

a hotel safe in the room. Any hotel serviceman also has access to these safes.

This is more serious than the episode with the prostitutes. The Secret Service agents may have

committed an infraction of the rules, but they are highly trained professionals who wouldn't let a

little dallying interfere with their sense of security.

              A couple of thoughts:

              - Yes, these guys were extremely stupid. A couple of hundred bucks would have been more than enough to avoid this whole fiasco. The damage done in terms of embarrasment to the President and the country is WAY more expensive than that. The one who got in the argument with the chick should have his ass kicked by the other 10-11 dudes who got caught. The chick may have wanted a payday but then again $20 from each of them could have saved their jobs. Idiots.

              - Regarding the security breach: MEH. Don't you all believe that anyone who would want to get a hold of a president's schedule already knows what NBC published and more? How inept would an intelligence agancy/terrorist group have to be for this to be news to them? "Oh, you mean the security detail knows where their protectee will be? How dumb of us not to figure that out." Gimme a break.

The schedule was kept locked in the hotel room safe - for what? A terrorist wouldn't care about the schedule in a safe. The terrorist would follow the leader, ignoring the schedule.

As for a maintenance man having access to the safe - he may have access to the safe bu the doesn't have access to the contents. A locksmith/safe specialist would be needed to gqain access to the contents. By then the meeting is over and obama is off on another date.

“Human trafficking -- the equivalent of modern day
slavery -- is an affront to human dignity, and goes against everything our
country stands for. And yet, it occurs in so many communities; workers are
exploited for labor behind closed doors, hidden from the public eye. This
includes horrific incidents of sex trafficking, where women and girls are
forced into prostitution, often after being lured from other countries with
promises of legitimate employment and better lives.

“The Justice Department is committed to the aggressive
prosecution of human trafficking cases. In the last full fiscal year, we
prosecuted more human trafficking cases than ever before. Those 52 cases
charged 99 defendants with crimes related to labor and sex trafficking. Many of
these cases target complex international cartels and involve many victims.

“Last spring, for example, defendant Amador Cortes-Meza
was sentenced to 40 years in prison on sex trafficking charges. Cortes-Meza was
the ring leader of an organization that brought 10 victims, including four
juveniles, from Mexico to the United States and forced them into prostitution.

“The Justice Department’s aggressive prosecution of cases
like this one should send a signal to other would-be traffickers that their
actions will not be tolerated in America.”

[The White House, Posted by Tom Perez on September 02, 2011, “Protecting

"The source also said the incident raised the possibility of a potential security breach, telling NBC News that all Secret Service personnel had been given copies of the president's schedule, which they are told to lock up in a safe in their hotel rooms."

and that would be the real problem

Don't worry Bin, they can change the procedure and i'm sure from now going forward there won't be any prostitutes nor drinking nor funny business allowed in the middle of any operation.

THey're not "goobers" because they didn't pay for the paid sex....they're going to be drummed out because of something even dumber...using prostitutes in the first place.

I recently re-located and have been living in COLOMBIA since Oct, 2009. This has been very embarrassing to say the least. After all the struggles the Colombian people have had with their relationship with the U.S. This trip represented - at least on the surface - an opportunity to begin to work together with the focus on economic growth. Let's be real and not over simplify what has happened. These guys WERE NOT on their own time - they get paid big bucks to act appropriately. They deserve to be sanctioned by their bosses.

They should have respect for themselves. It is not for them to judge, but to serve.

They took an oath, and they violate not only their personal honor but the honor of the organization.

MR, I feel sorry for you if you have that mindset. I didn't care for Bush, but I wouldn't have done anything to compromise his security or to bring dishonor to myself or my job just to get some sex. Seriously, adult men should be able to keep it in their pants and do their jobs. This isn't about who the president happens to be no matter what you want to think...it is a reflection on them and what is allowed in the Secret Service. Disgusting and bad judgement.

Deborah - if they had respect for the current holder of the office - they would kept their zippers zipped and their wicks dry. Instead, it's party time because they don't give a flying you know what about the guy they're there to protect.

Erins, my comment is my opinion. Should it reflect on me, so be it. The fact remains, the SS's actions reflect something about the person they're there to protect. If you have a different opinion about what that is, perhaps you would be so kind as to share? It is afterall a bit of a security breach as well, correct?

Both of your affiliations shine through, any reasonable person can draw a conclusion. I understand your white guilt, but I don't have any. Perhaps you should seek some counsel for it.

The fact that we are hearing about this at all, hearing that it happened at all, means that the Secret Service is compromised and not what it used to be. Think about it. There was a time when the President him self could have been caught up in this and we would not (did not actually) hear about it for 10-20 years. The operable word here is SECRET. Good thing they had their stuff together better when JFK was around-and Bobby. I guess it was slipping a little when Bill came around.

I am not sure if you meant that as sarcasm, or if you actually believe the secret service had their stuff together better when president Kennedy was in office. Having a sitting president murdered on your watch, is certainly not having your stuff togethor. That was not the Secret Services finest hour! I remember the day it happened well and have thought about it for years and I for one will never accept the lone gunmen theory. That incident set the stage for a lot of changes in protocol for the secret service. Nowadays, just to get a tour of the White House, you have to go through your congressmen and apply 6 months in advance and be in a party of at least ten I think. During that six months a security check will be done on everyone attending and that is all on friendly soil. As far as being out of the country, from a secret service point of view, everyone is to be looked at as a possible threat.

There are times when a house cleaning needs to be done to rid yourself of old practices. Surely this has been going on for some years for that many secret service members to be that comfortable with that. Supervisors only doing what their supervisors showed them. Good thing none were assigned to guard the President Obama, or any other president for that matter.

The Secret Service is part of Homeland Security, just like the TSA and FEMA and the Coast Guard and ICE and CBP and USCIS. Just apply for a Homeland Security job.

If you have computer skills the National Communications Systems or the National Cyber Security Center could use you, as well as US Customs and Immigration and heck, practically every component division.

If you have legal skills there's the Office of Legislative Policy and the Office of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties could use you.

Any military skill would be welcome in Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), FEMA, and the Coast Guard.

And the list goes on. Homeland Security is one of the larger sectors of government and the fastest-growing; in a time when the recession is forcing cutbacks, Homeland Security is still getting larger. They started in 2002 with a budget of $49 million; by 2011 their budget had grown to $98 billion. Their employees are also exempt from government furlough days.Take a peek and see if they are right for you.

From what other retired agents have said the only thing that makes this situation different is 1) the agents were too stupid and believed the hooker wouldn't go to the police and 2) they normally would wait till the President/dignitary leaves town before they start their drunken skirt chasin parties. Obviously they were thinking with the little head and not the big head. In their defense, having worked all over the world in the oil business, some of the most attractive women in the world are in South America.

Probably do better as CCA/Geo Group employees. if you get posted to one of GEO Group's privately run deportation camps, the women can't complain when you rape them. You don't have to pay them, you can even do 'body cavity search' on them before you pick the one you want since they don't have the right to ask that a female officer perform body cavity searches.

Everyone of them will know that you were one of the agents who paid for sex. How do you explain losing a great job like that? Everyone who knows you will know why. Maybe your new job can be pimp.

Bet whoever was the holdout on paying is getting the cold shoulder from his fellow SS pervs.

Andy is very typical of a liberal -- he wants to turn the agents' suspension into a life sentence of humiliation on the internet, with no trial or due process, and with no context regarding the situation or their other achievements.

What if one of the agents had previously saved the President? What if one of them was a subordinate going along with his supervisor, and not actually taking part? You want to PERMANENTLY humiliate that person and take away his family, reputation, and livelihood?

They didn't even commit any crime in Columbia (it's not a crime there). None of the agents should lose their jobs -- they should at most be privately reprimanded based on their actual, independent actions. And then OF COURSE *NONE* of their names should be released to the press hounds.

lintoid...really...."Andy is very typical of a liberal..."...that's where you want to go?

One might note how ironic it is for a presumably Republican poster to place so little value on the sanctity of marrage and to so clearly shy away from personal accountability.

I wouldn't want the agents to have thier names plastered over the airways but if they are married then their spouses deserve to know the truth.

JPS56, at least you agree that the agents' reputations should not be forever impugned on the internet.

As for the spouses knowing the truth, what truth?? That their agent husband was *somehow* in the vicinity of a party that involved "prostitutes". What if their supervisor or roommate brought back a girl who later turned out to want money? What if it was just some no-sex bachelor party type thing? What if they were aware but didn't participate? I don't think it's up to the press or the secret service to be delivering that muddled message to the spouses.

And yes, it is *liberals* who are always calling for someone's immediate termination and public hanging, with no context or fair hearing. Liberals have a mean, vindictive, mob mentality.

Oh, lintoid. You are right that the Republican leaders who get caught in this type of thing manage to get it swept under the rug by the friends and party all the while they are yelling for any Democrats who did the same thing to get thrown out. And yes, if a guy can't keep his thing in his pants when he's some elite SS fellow on duty to keep the President safe I think he should be fired. If he can't do that then he needs to find another line of work since it's slightly important to keep ANY President safe.

I thought you guys were into personal responsibility and being wonder spouses and so forth? I don't care what party they belong to...if it is found that they did go against their rules or code of honor, compromised the situation at all, or broke any civil laws they shouldn't be privileged to do this any more. I thought you guys were always calling Liberals soft on crime and so forth...guess it's different when it's not a Democratic legislator and it's "just" a possible serious breach of security and job ethics. Doesn't make sense to me...you can't have it both ways. Taxpayers (of which I am one) pay these people to do a hugely serious job, and I doubt the job description is to get hookers while on assignment.

Oh, and just because JFK or Reagan's men or whoever did it doesn't make it right. You know...right?

ram, you're just rambling. The subject (per my response to Andy), is whether their names should be publicized in connection to this scandal, with no fair hearing wrt their individual participation.

You have so many screw-ups in your posting that I'm not going to take it seriously. They were not "on duty". There were no "civil laws" broken. There was no "serious breach of security". etc, etc.

Again, I'm objecting to them being publicly impugned. I'm not responding to you anymore because your posting was thoughtless and confused on every point.

@lintoid - you are the typical right winger that loves to just blame any comment that you do not agree with as "liberal". Your judgement is subjective.

Liberals have mean, vindictive mob mentality??

Really? Kind of like the GOP trying to get vengeance for the last 4 years because Obama won, and have spent the last year and a half making fools out of themselves doing so.

As an independent I find it so very humorous that you attack liberals for the focused creed of the Republicans.

DKJ-4 - This being a republic with universal suffrage and the fact that they were traveling on the taxpayers' dime and that they were charged with the very important duty of protecting our head of state sorta does make it our business. Sorry if that doesn't jibe with your whole "prostitution is totally awesome" stance.

Lintoid - typical liberal response? I am disappointed by the comments across the web. On Michelle Malkin, they are claiming the President isn't really the President, so he doesn't deserve the protection of the Secret Service, and it got worse from there, including ways to have him not be President.

This should not a political argument, again. This should be an American issue.

When are Americans going to put being American first, put their country first, put honesty integrity morality and decency first, and stop with the political score keeping?

Justice, they are never going to do that. The GOP's billion dollar a year propaganda machine is extremely effective. They believe then ends justify the means and nothing is sacred.

Ron Paul on the neo-conservatives currently in charge of the GOP:

They agree with Trotsky on permanent revolution, violent as well as intellectual.

They accept the notion that the ends justify the means—that hardball politics is a moral necessity.

They believe lying is necessary for the state to survive

They believe a powerful federal government is a benefit.

Using American might to force American ideals on others is acceptable. Force should not be limited to the defense of our country.

They believe pertinent facts about how a society should be run should be held by the elite and withheld from those who do not have the courage to deal with it.

Probably not but like so many others have commented- why should the people that they are protecting have the fun. I think however the guy should have paid for what ever services she rendered, what a cheap bastard!!

Never been to Nicaragua but in Honduras prostitution is legal and red light districts are everywhere. Not paying for it would be illegal, but if they were off duty and not risking security then I don't have a problem with it. If they are being punished for some type of morals clause in their contract then they are done.

Don't know why they would use prostitutes, being American down there is enough to get the females down friendly. If they are married then they have their own problems at home to deal with.

If they are suspended I think there must be some clause...and really there should be. Their job isn't flipping burgers. They mean the difference between life and death if something happens.

If they didn't want to keep the morals clause or whatever rule caused them to get suspended there are other jobs in security where I'm sure they would be allowed to get all the hookers they want.

What a disgrace. So easy to compromise security information. What were they thinking? Likely what happened in Columbia stayed in Columbia. WRONG. Now they face losing their jobs, their families, their security clearances and certainly their self-respect. There is no excuse. Sad day for the Secret Service family. In a way the prostitute in Columbia did America a favor. How soon before their names are revealed? I hope that the Secret Service can heal and pull together. I would not want to be answering to the President right now. It seems it did impact his presence at the meetings.

The Secret Service answers to Homeland Security, not the President. They'll ave to explain things to Homeland Security and a congressional hearing--unless, of course, John Boehner's request for his Homeland Security Oversight Committee to be given sole oversight of all Homeland Security goes through. If it does all they have to do is explain themselves to the 33 members of the oversight committee.

The president is the Commander in Chief and that means he is the tallest hog at the trough and everyone in the chain of command answers to him. I personally would not want to be in the chain of command between the president and those agents right now. A breach of protocol in the secret service will not be taken lightly and the president will have the final say in the matter. All he has to say, is I no longer have confidence in the ablities of these agents and they are gone.

Secret Service is now under the heading of Homeland Security and has to fight for funds with many other agencies under this big umbrella. The head of the agency, Mark Sullivan, needs to be fired. Too many breaches in security in the last few years. There is sure to be more to this story. An American president had secret agents with him the day his head was blown off -- I would be devastated if that happened on my watch. Twenty or more agents, including supervisors, will now be replaced -- quickly. Anyone else smell a rat here? I could maybe understand one or two agents being involved -- maybe. But the scope of this thing and the shear stupidity of the events, if true, just don't ring true. The only possible explanation is that they have relaxed the rules and quality of their hires -- that's also very hard to believe.

Stay tuned -- there is a bigger story here than what we are seeing right now.

You aren't seen as an individual, you're seen as a representative of the United States Government. Behavior like this makes everyone look bad, and it costs us at the negotiating table.

I'm guessing these yahoos got their career starts back during the last decade - the decade of Duke Cunningham, Tom DeLay, Halliburton/KBR, outright executive branch incompetence, and the collective public stupor that allowed it all to happen - and they couldn't help but have that arrogant cowboy mentality ooze right on out in Cartagena...

Spare the BS Rat - these guys don't report to Obama. You do realize that Bush took more vacation than ANY President right? Move over cause your gonna have 4 more years of him. And all because you Republicans were so hell bent on getting at Obama instead of a plan to help our country.

                                                This Independent is for Obama!

Toasty, when you say" you aren't seen as an individual, you are seen as a representative of the United State Government. Behavior like this makes everyone look bad and it cost at the negotiating table", are you including the President. Really I am not impressed with any representative that deals with dictators & drug lords no matter if they aquired political titles.

Besides the Admistration has already showed how O really feels about US citizens when he made his punchline for his jokes because we want our borders closed & properly protected in a time of war.

I'm sorry if it hurts your feelings DKJ, but the President is supposed to be the grown-up in the room, and that occasionally means looking at the big picture.

Kjosee, it wasn't because of the blue dress in the oval office it was because he lied. He should have told the public & media "no comment, none of your business instead of lying. He did't do anything illegal and problably nothing new for past presidents probably had simuliar experieces in the Oval Office.

The secret service was simply doing what the president wanted and that was to bring international trade to the Americas. After all, poohtang is an international product. The president nor the secret service should have been there in the first place! What a waste.

Do you really think this is new or even if this is going to stop. My friend, this will continue as soon as the roar settles down. Obama is going to pretend to be upset and play the media but when it is all said and done stuff like this will continue.

It goes on in the White House, on the road, in the closets and in some shabby Columbia hotel with whores. Besides, even if you are the President, just how hard would you spank the ones that guard you? As I said before, neither one should have been there. It's a complete waste of time and the shame was long before the whores came in.

                                                              I noticed the number 1664 follows your name. Was that the year you were born in? I worked in Wash D.C. and could tell you more stories about women from 18-30 years old that simply come to Wash. to get laid and married to guys in power. I worked with the Senate Investigating Committees and my staff and I couldn't even go into a cafe without having one of your so-called little girls approaching us with the following introductory line;

Hi sir, I am new in town and you know I would do anything, I mean anything, if you would show me around town and maybe get me a job. And sir, I really mean I would do anything your little imagination would desire, anything!

Descrs-1664846 you better grow up and realize that those little girls you are so concerned with are scattered around the world where ever money and power is concentrated at. If you think that sweet little girl who comes to Wash. D.C. is simply looking for a secretary job, you as naive as the people who fell for the rhetoric B.S. that came out of Chicago, that now feeds you from the White house.

My 2 daughters graduated from medical school and live on the Indian reservations providing medical treatment to the children. I probably saw a lot of your female relatives at the Wash. D.C. cafes looking for a job and willing to do anything, and I mean anything for a resume! The next thing you are going to tell us is that Hillary is as pure as snow! lol, BIG LOL! I just hope you're naive and not as dumb as you present yourself. It scares me that you are probably allowed to vote.

And what is even scarier is that you are allowed to vote.

                                                                God help you.

How are you? It must thrill you to inject your thoughts into a subject that is none of your business. But since it's your desire to engage in my conversation with perhaps one of your relatives, let me respond to you as follows.

I have lived long enough to see things I hope you never see. I hope your children never have to experience what I have had to experience. I have served this country in the jungles of Viet Nam to standing guard on the barb wire of the cold war. As a youngster I was sent to a government run Indian boarding school, then forced to relocate to another state because the government wanted to take my family's home.

I have testified before U.S. Senate Investigating Committees, served proudly as a U.S. Federal Trustee was the Director of Operations for a major Native American Tribe and a lead investigator for one of the largest criminal investigation in U.S. history. I accepted and served in several government appointed positions and have served in over 6 different countries. I have served this country in positions you don't even know exist.

If anyone has the right to vote and express opinions about this government or any other subject it is me. And if it scares you that I vote, it is because of your stupidity about how this government and the world actually functions. I won't bother you with what I know about government operations and what goes on behind the curtains as I don't believe you could handle it and you probably are better off not knowing. So I will leave you to your fairy tale version of how you believe government operates and allow you the luxury of not knowing.

But I will tell you in closing that I vote with the knowledge of knowing. You vote without any knowledge at all. What is scary is not my vote, but your inability to recognize that you don't know. My friend, you don't have a clue. That is what is scary! God help us all.

                                                                    #24.8 - Wed Apr 18, 2012 3:24 AM EDT

Blaming this on the Obama Administration is like blaming George W. Bush for the actions of some soldiers at Abu Graive (sp. ?) prison. I know some people did blame Bush for that, but the reality is that the President is not responsible for the unauthorized actions of each inidividual in the government.

The rest of the world is watching this as much as we are and how he handles this will speak volumes to the rest of the world leaders. It's like Harry Truman said, "the buck stops here". That still holds true today. I did not vote for this president and probably will not vote for him for re-election, but I would have no problem whatsoever, with him stepping up to the mike on national tv and saying, " this is not acceptable behavior and it is not going to be tolerated. The following personel were fired following an investigation into this matter". Every elected president, regardless of how well liked, how successful or how inept, has to have the highest degree of safety and security of not only themselves, but their family as well. This is about the security and sanctity of the office and what it stands for around the globe,as well as the security of our nation. Anything less than 100% dedication to that principle by the secret service is unacceptable.
