The White House on Tuesday confirmed the death of deputy al-Qaida leader Abu Yahya al-Libi in Pakistan, calling his death a “major blow” to the terrorist group.
White House spokesman Jay Carney would not confirm al-Libi’s death occurred as a result of a U.S. drone strike in North Waziristan, part of Pakistan’s northwestern tribal area, though Pakistani security sources said he died in a pre-dawn attack there that killed 15 insurgents, the last in a series of three U.S. drone attacks over the weekend.
“I can’t get into details about how his death was brought about, but I can tell you that he served as al-Qaida’s general manger, responsible for overseeing the group’s day-to-day operations in the tribal areas of Pakistan and he managed the outreach to al-Qaida’s regional affiliates,” Carney said.
“We believe al-Libi’s death is a major blow to core al-Qaida, removing the No. 2 leader for the second time in last than a year and further damaging the group’s morale and cohesion and bringing it closer to its ultimate demise than ever before.”
While al-Libi had previously been reported killed in 2009, an Internet post on a jihadist website on Tuesday suggested that he did not escape death this time.
A senior moderator on Al-Qaida's top-ranked, password-protected Shamukh web forum early in the day urged other users to "pray for our brothers in Waziristan, as the situation does not please the believers."
"One of the beloved brothers from the mujahideen in Waziristan corresponded privately with me and asked me to open a thread in which we can ask for prayers for our mujahideen brothers,” the author wrote. “The situation is bad there ... and he told me some news and asked me not to reveal it to anyone now.”
The post was quickly removed from the forum a short time later.
Al-Libi, or "the Libyan" in Arabic, believed to be 39 years old, was one of the most influential propagandists in al-Qaida and one of its best known leaders. U.S. officials, speaking with NBC News on condition of anonymity, characterized him as irreplaceable in his expertise, ability and influence.
Al-Libi drew much of his credibility from having escaped a U.S. military prison at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan on the night of July 10, 2005. He subsequently appeared in more than 30 videos produced by al Shahab, the al-Qaida media wing, and other militant sites. In December 2009, Pakistani officials erroneously reported he had been killed in a Predator strike, further enhancing his image.
U.S. officials say unlike many al-Qaida propagandists, he also was a seasoned fighter.
In May 2011, shortly after bin Laden was killed, U.S. officials identified Abu Yahya as one of five potential successors to the slain al-Qaida leaders. The leading candidate, Ayman al Zawahiri, ultimately did succeed bin Laden. The other four potential successors now have all been killed in drone strikes.
Ilyas Kashmiri, al-Qaida’s director of external operations, was killed on June 3. Abdul Rahman Atiya, bin Laden’s chief of staff, was killed Aug. 22. Both of those attacks took place in northwestern Pakistan. Anwar al Awlaki, a leader of al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula and an American citizen, was killed in Yemen, also in a drone strike, on Sept. 30.
The White House confirmed the death of deputy al-Qaida leader Abu Yahya al-Libi in Pakistan, believed to rank second in the organization. NBC's Brian Williams reports.
With the leadership of the core al-Qaida group in Pakistan now decimated, U.S. officials have increasingly used drone attacks against the Yemen-based al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, or AQAP, and master bomb-maker, Ibrahim al-Nasiri.
The U.S. also is openly helping the new Yemeni government in counterinsurgency efforts against an AQAP-affiliated group, Ansar al-Sharia, in the south of the country. The assistance includes “a small contingent” of military trainers and intelligence officers assisting the Yemeni forces.
Jim Miklaszewski is chief Pentagon correspondent for NBC News; Robert Windrem is a senior investigative producer. Shawna Thomas, an NBC News producer at the White House, and Evan Kohlmann, an NBC News terrorism analyst, also contributed to this report.

Soon to be replaced by yet another 'drone' al-Qaida leader.
"POP"! Gosh, he may not get good marks on the economy but the President is a GD ninja on foreign policy. Outstanding! God bless America!
Have you noticed how we always seem to find the Al-Qaeda leaders in Pakistan?
"BOOM HEADSHOT!"
Let's see how Romney tries to deflect any credit to Obama on this.
What's Romney's foreign policy again?
Any other idiot want to try and be their leader?? :)
Send more drones. There are many more scum-bags to be sent to their virgins.
It warms my heart to know that we still have the balls to kill our enemies. It's just too bad we can't use bigger bombs.
And what credit would that be? Telling the military and intelligence community to do their jobs and personally approving every mission? Okay. Got it.
SKUP... it's just a coincidence. ;-)
ERIC... Mittens invented the internet too.
Freaken Pakistan, how can they sit there and act so pissed off when we kill someone in THEIR country. They have an strong military, their own special opp's and we keep killing wanted terrorist in their back yard. How embarrassing for them. A$$holes.
eric, elect him and see, seems that all obama has done is follow bush2 with a technology twist.
I get such a warm fuzzy feeling when thinking about our friend Pakistan and all the al-Qaida leaders living posh lives there.
And what does this have to do with the most recent drone strike?
Gee the hits just keep coming, talk about a dangerous occupation sure don't want their name pulled from that hat, it's like having a cross hair on your forehead and you just became America's Most Wanted ...
They don't really have much talent left and the more leaders are taken out the better we are.
Keep up the good work Obama. :)
It only took us 11 years to do it. What a joke our CIA is!
More bad news for Romney and the Trumptard GOP.
Interesting the Liberal bravado with Obama acting like Dick Chaney...
What ever happened to the Obama you all loved who promoted giving these terrorists all the rights and protections of our civil court system? Now he's using their deaths to get re-elected....
Talk about a deflection strategy - where are the jobs back home? Oh yeah you forgot about that now... You are being led around by your noses.
Obama is a desperate man, truly desperate.
I said this earlier in a different thread, and I"ll say it again here: the drone attacks on high-ranking terrorists is just about the only thing I'll give Obama positive credit for during his tenure as president. Everyone should be lauding this news, no matter your political leanings. Let the Pakistani government cry all they want about the US interfering with their "sovereignty." If they were a true ally in the war on terror, they'd be arresting or killing these al Quaeda lowlifes themselves.
american-2051576
eric, elect him and see, seems that all obama has done is follow bush2 with a technology twist. and
Talk to the Hand
There is a difference people. First under Obama's admin we are actually killing many Al Qaida something the previous admin didn't have the balls to do. Romney would continue the weakening of American resolve against terrorism. It would seem that Obama is more involved with these activities than any of the past presidents going back more than a generation and certainly more than Romney would do.
Another one bites the dust.
GetReal... you know if these attacks were taking place under the Bush administration, the liberal media would be screaming just as loud as the Pakistani government about how we are attacking Pakistaki sovereignty, and the left-wing nuts would be saying Bush is guilty of war crimes. But hey...give them credit for their ideological consistency.
Keep up the good work, Obama???????? I believe the article clearly stated that it was a CIA drone, nor our President who delivered the fatal blow. And I am sure that our President found out about it after the fact, because if our attempts had failed then he would have been liable for invading Pakistani territory and airspace. I am grateful that the military and intelligence community have managed to delete another terrorist.....I think it is a major stretch to give Obama the credit.
@Get Real are you suggesting that this is a bad thing? You are so blinding by Rush and the Corporate tools we call the Republicans that you call a successful ops mission a man in desperation. If this is Obama being desperate that maybe we could use some more desperations. Please oh please tell me why it is impossible for you to ever give credit where credit is due? What about Obama make you hate him so much that you would much rather see terrorists alive and well? Yet I bet you will say Obama hates America and you love it!
Please give it a rest. Obama just happens to be sitting in the Oval Office while our CIA and military do their jobs. It won't be any different when Romney is elected; and he shouldn't get any credit for the continued efforts by the CIA and military. It is what it is; their job, their mission, and they will continue regardless who ends up President. So give credit where credit is due; whoever is President just needs to step aside and let the professionals do what they do best. Taking credit for this is such a joke by anyone other than the ones succeeding.
And how many $millions do we give Pakistan in foreign aid every year?
@Talk
And yet Bush had several opportunites to tell "the military and intelligence community to do their jobs" as you say, but he instead decided he was "truly not concerned" about catching bin Laden. But who cares, right? When the Commander in Chief says he's not concerned about a particular high priority target I'm sure that mindset and focus doesn't in turn subsequently carry down the chain of command. I'm sure the military and intelligence community would've just done their jobs without a command to do so because that's how we train our troops... not to follow direct commands and instruction.
BTW folks: Commander in Chief is the only role the president has where really can act unilaterally, so not giving Obama (or any other president in a similar position) credit for acting as the civilian head of our military just shows fundemental willful ignorance as to how our government was designed to operate, and thus is a spit in the face of the founding fathers you wingnuts hold in such grand originalist esteem.
@Sue: kind of like Obama invaded Pakistan to kill OBL? You are so blinded by your tea party rallies it is sad.
To read some of these post You would have to believe that Obama personally went into Pakistan gathered the intel took control of the drone and launched the strike. Get a grip libs all your messiah did was approve the mission just like the one that got Bin Laden
Yeah Joe, we kill 'em in Pakistan and arm them in Syria. What a damned moron! Spoken like a true child, Joe B.
Wow. I was really up at night worrying about this one!
To clean up the world all we have to do is get rid of Pakistan
Don't you children already know that posters on these articles are already set on who they will vote for in any given election? Why keep bashing one side or the other? It's so completely and utterly pointless.
Oh yes, the infamous "not interested in swatting at flies" dismissal Bush2 made the summer before 9/11 and THEN he left office with justice STILL not served. Oh and then candidate John McCain? Can't upset out ally Pakistan!....
Eric-913730,
Willard's foreign policy is to bankrupt US businesses and send those wrecked business jobs to China.
@danimyl We all blame Osama Bin Laden for the 9/11 attacks yet did he fly a single plane? Did he pull out a single box cutter? NO. He simply gave the command to go and allowed the funding. Obama did the same thing yet you tea baggers who hate OBL won't give the POTUS the credit. Get a life!
Obama always said he would go after al Qaida, that is the big difference between he and Bush who just wanted to get his daddy's nemesis, and took his eye off of the ball
I sure hope no one outside USA/NATO is going to buy these drones from someone else, and then bomb "the aggressor bosses" who are attacking other countries targeting anyone including children, in the name of Muslim terrorism, like USA is doing to them!
How about Christian terrorism?--After all there has been millions and millions killed by those over the last 2000 years already!
How big of a nuclear bomb can a drone carry? No one would know where it came from and we could say Pakistan must have been developing nuclear weapons and one of them must have blown up killing 90 percent of the people. The last ten could be taken care of later
@ Get Real
I was wondering were the JOBS, JOBS, JOBS
are the GOP promised in the 2010 midterm elections.
Fasola, I usually don't bother responding to morons who have to resort to calling someone a "moron" and a "child" in their posts, since people who do that are simply showing their lack of ability to frame an intelligent response. But I just have to ask: we kill an alQuaeda leader in Pakistan, so what in the hell point are you trying to make by bringing Syria into the mix?
To the Queen song:
Boom, boom, boom, another one bites the dust!
Boom, boom, boom, another one bites the dust!
And another one's gone
And another one's gone.
Another one bites the dust!
Hey, I'm gonna get you too.
Another one bites the dust!
Joe B - you just resorted to calling someone a moron. Do you have a lack of ability to frame an intelligent response?
Next.
Yes--that's why Bush attacked Iraq.
"eric, elect him and see, seems that all obama has done is follow bush2 with a technology twist."
W Bush and Cheney had 7 years after 9-11 to go after Al Quaida in an aggressive fashion. They didn't. They talked about but took little action.
President Obama made it a priority and they are being taken off the playing field in large measure due to his policy making decisions.
Having the technology and human resources and not using it as was W's policy was not a good thing.
You just can't spin this thing in his favor.
"Pop" goes another al-Qaida weasel - the music we all want to hear.
Not mentioned is the source of the "intelligence" that helps those targeting these drones. Could it be that deep throated Pakki weasels are selling out their cronies / rivals for money?
2012 years ago is when cristianity started bundgaard, epic fail on your part. Sure there where the crusades and the inqisition, but those where politicaly motivated, not religous, unlike the muslim terrorists who think that everyone but muslems have to die in order for there messiah(savor) to come back....
ps: all 'religous wars' are politacle and power related, so STICK THAT UP YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT!!!
Obama certainly does deserve credit - after all, he could have cancelled those highly effective drone strikes set up by Bush.
Come to think of it, Obama deserves credit for continuing almost ALL of the anti-terror programs set up by Bush. Gee, maybe Bush was pretty smart after all.
More "appeasement" by Obama.
Skup
Yes Sir. But but ... they didn't know they were there ... they didn't know OBL was there either ...
And to our military: Good job!
Eric-913730 "What's Romney's foreign policy again?"
His experience in foreign policy was the same as Obama's when he was elected.
@Roy Wilson-Obama id continue some of Bushes plans and implemented his own creating a program that has worked very well. The problem with the Republican party is instead of working with the president and the left they would much rather disagree with everything and undo everything because they are more interested in making Obama look bad than putting together any type of policies that would work for the people they are supposed to be working for. So yes, we should give Obama credit for not being as narrow-minded as the tea baggers.
I wonder who Pakistan is going to punish for helping get rid of this guy
so romney was a member of the senate select committee on foreign intelligence? i didn't know that!
All the comments about Pakistan are right on. Pakistan harbors these terrorists.
Sandy
Just watch the advertisements on TV. Obama is taking credit for the job creation since the 2010 mid term elections. Taking credit for the good things and blaming the bad on others is his platform.
just working his way through the food chain Up, down and side ways
One hell of a voracious eater
Well kappa it was his butler not him
@Joe B.-758292
Not so fast. While we all love to see one of our enemies killed before they can do us anymore harm there is one component to this issue that people are missing. Obama has no other choice but to blow them up with a drone strike. The reality is that we should be trying to nab some of these guys when feasible in order to get more intel but Obama's political rhetoric does not allow him to do that. He can't put them in Gitmo, he promised us he'd close that. He can't use enhanced interrogation, he opposes it in favor of killing them outright (along with any of their family who may be present at the time), as if there was really much of a difference. He has no way to effectively try them for any crime because he opposes military tribunals for people he is willing to take out with military action but the alternative, public trails, has been a royal fuster cluck.
He obviously can't just let them go so at the end of the day this is the one and only realistic option he has. And while it certainly has been effective up to this point sooner or later the intel is going to run out. Much of what we're going on now is holdover from the Bush administration. If this administration can't get hard intel what are we going to do when the well runs dry?
These Obama bots act like they have never seen a drone attack before. This is not a new thing, the last administration started the attacks, and was actually pretty proficient at killing terrorist. I wouldn't be so swift to fall for the idea that the current administration is the soul proprietor of this technique.
For years now, we have killed the #2 guy. How many of these guys are there that the US claims to be high ranking? Also back about 2 years ago, Obama said there was only about 100 of these terrorists left.
With respect to the drone use, it seems that drones are being used a lot more these days and at some point those of you that think this "tool" is fabulous, will not be so happy. It depends on who the government deems the "enemy".
This is COMEDY! What the hell is going on? This is RED WHITE AND BLUE news and you damn haters have managed to turn it polka dot. Watch this:
Obama loves Ice Cream; the Right: Indoctrination of Lactose
Obama Lives in a House; the Right: Houses are for Communist
Obama Breathes Air; the Right: I won't accept Socialist Oxygen
Obama loves America: the Right: "We hate anyone who loves America"
Good Lord people; are you really that resentful? Good job Mr President. Good Job Troops, Good Job America. Imagine if we used the same "precision" on the economy both left and right, we'd be friggin unstoppable! But you won't work with the current president because he's too "not you"...
My God...
Another dirty islamist dead. Wooohoooo. Now if we could only find that dirty mohammed god figure they all go crazy over. Maybe we can shoot a laser guided missle right up his A$$.
Mr. President, if you keep this up, there will be no terrorist to go after... All that will be left is congress... He. He. He...
President Barrack Obama, you make me proud...
Political at best.
Ah, strawman is alive and well with the Republitards. :)
But you're right. IF the Bush Administration had.... IF the Bush Administration had.... IF the Bush Administration had.... IF the Bush Administration had....
But they didn't and no amount of strawmaning will change that fact. :D
Funny how the righties never mention this stop on the "Obama world apology tour."
Another seat at Bin Laden's privare table in hell taken. Get that redid animal Zawahiri next followed by that traitorous scum bag Adan the American and that will really fill out the accomplishments for the year for the CIA and SEAL Team 6. I sure will no way in hades give president Obama any credit for it!
Ok, we've killed enough of them and invaded our friend Pakistan enough. Now it's time to hold out the Olive branch...............NOT! Keep up the good work, and while we're at it, how about an errant drone hitting Pakistan's government building.
hats off to our military. Way to get the job done!!
Kappa, please explain to everyone what that committee does and why it's so important. lol Also, what did Obama do on that committee and how are poeple put on that committee.
Jeff-1592116
The Bush administration did start drone attacks in Pakistan, although Obama has killed many more people than bush did.
Al-Qaeda, Cartel same difference..
If you think changing the argument somehow justifies the other fellows strawman you're wrong. I was responding to him not to a completely different argument. I never said Bush didn't use drones, I was arguing the other fellows logic that had Bush killed Bin Laden and the person of topic today Libs would be all over him about it. Shame that's a strawman argument as yours is a non-sequitur. :)
Actually Libs, the real thing, not the moderates who support this action, are all over Obama about it. Problem is the Righties are too busy pigeon-holing everyone to the left of them as Libs to notice.
Sorry but I will not argue a point I wasn't making. Try again. ;)
That would be all well and fine but it's not a military operation. :)
Obama has not killed jack! The CIA and the U.S. Armed Forces have! I give credit where credit is due, and Obama has not done c#*p except say yea or nay to take out a few very HVT's! All the day to day legwork and the dangerous parts are taken solely by the aforementioned organizations, not Obama.
One article on this subject stated that the Pakistani govt was not happy w/ our using drones in their country bec some innocent civilians also would be killed. I say if they truly feel that way, they should do something about al quaida suicide bombers; they kill many, many more civilians than our drones. No comparison. Good job US.
Obama hasn't Jack. That's not a real argument. :) He's authorized the drone attacks on each Bin Laden wannabe. That's a fact. I posted the info up a ways.
Oh, the drone attacks in Pakistan are CIA only btw.
/NEXT :)
Mitt Romney was against drone strikes before he was for them and then against them, then for them, then against them, then for them and on on on. Is anybody stupid enough to vote for this idiot.
When Obama (the candidate) said he would use the Drones to actively target AL-QUIDA in Pakistan, I thought the same way as Bush. Can't be done. Obama explained that he wouldn't RELY on Pakistan for intelligence, but would gather our own. This was a MASSIVE shift in policy, and I didn't believe it could or would work. Besides, it was sure to piss the Pakistani's off! I was right, it did piss the Paki's off. And I was wrong, it has worked.
People were stupid enough to vote for Obama!
Sigh....such a weak comeback considering Obama is making Al-Qaeda his bitch. Got more done in under 4 years with these terrorist clowns then the clown before him did in 8.
Those drones must be like those little no-see-ums to their target.
OK, let's get Obama dressed up in his flight suit and fly him out to some aircraft carrier with a "Another Mission Accomplished " sign. Surely all the righties will accept that. It worked so well for Georgie.
IF , a big IF, Obama had anything to do with the drones successes, it is only because he stays out of the way of the military. If he would do the same thing with energy and businesses, we would be a lot better off than we are. But he has to try to manipulate everything. Yes, people were stupid to vote for Obama and will be more so if they make the same mistake. O.K. people , you've proven you're not prejudiced so now prove you can use your brains. No Obama 2012.
Ed-NavDoc,
"Obama has not killed jack! The CIA and the U.S. Armed Forces have!"
Yes, that's true, but it is Obama who has been giving permission for every one of these strikes. What's a terrorist to do these days? The job has just become too dangerous, and I'm sure the pay is not really all that good. Another terrorist will probably take his place, but the waiting line may be growing shorter.
JoeB, If this were under Bush the only thing that I would be screaming is Hooray! I don't care who the CIC is, as long as we wipe these people out before they get to us.
Sue, The CIA could not have set the Drones in action without the Presidents approval.
............but.......but...........wait!! It CAN'T be! The Pakis are our ALLIES, aren't they?? Because our government SAID SO, thus - it MUST be true, right??????? We give them BILLIONS every year, so the PAKIS LOVE us, right? RIGHT?????????
*End sarcasm*
Haven't we killed the Number 2 guy in Al queda like eighteen times in the last two years. I have to say if they keep coming back to life, we are not doing it right, thinks me.
I am proud of Obama! Way to keep your eye on the ball!
What do u call a snake without a head? Doesn't matter let's eat!
Somehow - this will not be good enough for the Republicans and they will find a way to either take credit for it or diminish the importance of it.
john,
"if they keep coming back to life, we are not doing it right, thinks me."
It sounds to me like you have been reading the 18th. century philosophe Voltaire's novel, Candide ou L'Optimisme. In that novel, the leading characters keep getting killed and coming back to life. They get dismembered, disemboweled, etc. but they keep coming back. I don't think it works that way in real life, though.
You righties with your stupid grin sound like, well other people have pointed it out. You blame everything on Obama as if it was his fault. Your House of Reps has not done anything to help the people of our country. Why. But then Obama issues a military order and it is carried out, but you say no he didn't have anything to do with it, it was the military or CIA. Lord, do any of you people serve any body or have you ever been in the military? Everyone does what their comander says or they are treasonous. That includes the highest ranking Generals, they do what the president commands. So get over it and when his order is carried out you better understand that the military will carry it out (or CIA). And really if you think the Pres has anything to do with lawmaking you might want to notice that our piece of crap congressional houses have not done anything for 3 years while the right continues to express
Let's just be happy the bad guy is dead. The object is to take out the enemy before they attack us right?
If any credit is due here give it to the military-they are the ones putting their lives on the line every single day to keep us safe from all of those that would do us harm. The special ops people and intel people never get any of the credit either. Without them the military could not have taken out another enemy leader. Bravo, job well done!
tke29 --- Are you telling us that anyone who criticizes President Obama for anything are being obstructionists ???
the best Commander-in-Chief ever - Obama
Roy, but Obama hasn't kept up Bush's practice of invading totally uninvolved countries, or of letting Osama bin Laden live in quiet, semi-retirement in Abbottabad, Pakistan, has he?
Shouldn't he have followed the complete, Bush-template, and maybe invaded Tunisia, or perhaps the Sudan?
We really need to send 5 or 6 divisions to some obscure and remote locale and create a quagmire that will last for a decade. That will help.
Yeah, o'l George was a real MENSA candidate, no question.
LOL
If Obama did that could you imagine? :D
**********************Pathetic***************************
Once again the NON PARTICIPANTS post the most NONSENSE.
DOCUMENTED FACTS: Just after the 9/11 2001 Attacks we (US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces aka Special Warfare) attached to the President's Own Executive Intelligence Agency, the CIA's SAD/SOGwent into Afghanistan withthe Mission of eliminating the Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban Government because they provided Fundamentalist Islamic Sanctuary to Fundamentalist Islamic Osama Bin Laden and his Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadist Organization of Al Quada; as well as attacking the Fundamentalist Islamic JihadistTraining Camps. Most of the Teams allied themselves with the Northern Alliance since the Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban had massacred the 1980s Pro US Afghan Muhajeen (20,000 to 50,000) that we had trained during Operation Cyclone to defeat the USSR 40th Army Occupation. And NO we did NOT train Osama Bin Laden as he was still living with his Rich Relatives forming his Fundamentalist Islamic Al Quada, to Overthrow US Ally Saudi Arabian Government, and other US Allies. The Pro USSR Afghans were still at the USSR Backed Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran, and when they returned to Afghanistan in the 1990s became the Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban, and fully backed by the USSR Backed Fundamentalist Islamic ShiaRepublic of Iran massacred the 1980s Pro US Afghans and any Collaborators to the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers, and became the Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban Government of Afghanistan.
The US Military Asymmetric Warfare Teams attached to the Northern Alliance:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arxKhJIjIiY
Our Teams with more experience (language(s) and culture(s)) from Operation Cyclone went into the Afghan Cities and fought against the Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban Government Militias (Army) and lost almost Redacted % of our Teams. The Teams attached to the Northern Alliance literally as Cavalry (on horseback) came to our Rescue especially at the Battle of Mazar I Sharif, Battle of the House of War (Qala I Janghi), Battles for the other Afghan Cities, etc. in which we lost Redacted % a majority of our Combined Teams with the Northern Alliance.
At this time it was ILLEGAL as Demanded by US Congress for us to violate the US No Assassination Policy by Terminating Osama Bin Laden. The US Politicians were afraid that by violating the US No Assassination Policy (US, International Laws and Treaties) it would be Open Season on any Politicians Worldwide for a "Rogue Nation" to target any Politicians Worldwide. After Tora Bora, President Bush to circumvent the objections of US Congress, by Presidential Executive Order Amended the US No Assassination Policy in 2006 to allow the termination of Osama Bin Laden. By that time Osama Bin Laden was already "Marginalized" in that he went into hiding, and everyone was already intercepting any or all of his Electronic Communications (SIGNINT, ELINT) to negate any or all of his plans as well as providing the US and US Allies withthe identities of his subordinates of the Worldwide Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadist Al Quada Franchise. OsamaBin Laden knew that we were listening, so he started to use Couriers, with the US Intelligence Agencies then physically following his Couriers (the Pakistanis Intelligence Agency and Pakistanis Law Enforcement kept arresting these US Intelligence Agents (part of the US Embassy Mission Pakistan with Diplomatic Immunity)).
After Overthrowing the Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban Government, the US Politicians got involved and objected to EVERYTHING we were doing or had already done. We were chasing the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists along the Southern part of the Old Silk Road and killing off as many as we could (vengeance (punishment) with extreme prejudice for the 9/11 2001 Attacks, the deaths of the majority of our Forces our friends and buddies that we knew since the 1980s, and the massacres of our friends and Allies the 1980s Pro US Afghan Muhajeen and their Families Friends Relatives). The US Politicians Demanded that we stop, as not to violate the Sovereign Borders of the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran, Tajikistan, US Ally Turkey and Iraq.
To overcome the Objections of US Congress, President Bush pushes for US Law, 2002 Iraqi War Resolution. This US Law will allow us to attack the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists that escaped us at Afghanistan and fled to Northern Iraq and given Fundamentalist Islamic Sanctuary at Northern Iraqis controlled by the Fundamentalist Islamic Kurdistanis. Combined with the other Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists Al Quada from Afghanistan, the Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban (that did not go to Pakistan instead), other Worldwide Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists combined together as Fundamentalist Islamic Organization Ansar Al Islam.
President Bush deferred US Military and US Intelligence Agency Expertise to the US Military and US Intelligence Agencies, that came up with US Military/US Intelligence Agencies 2002 Operation Hotel California. The Primary Missions: Attack the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadist Organization of Ansar Al Islam;seize and secure the Iraqis Chemical Weapons Facility at Sargat; preparations for the 2003 US MilitaryLiberation of Iraq in accordance with US Law H.R. 4655 "Iraqis Liberation Act of 1998" as US Military Operation Iraqis Freedom.
Too bad just like President Obama's November Policy to circumvent US Congress (US Law Makers, Representative of "the Will of the People") of "Only Criminal Undocumented Workers will be deported" invited more Illegal Aliens into the US, "President Obama deporting more Illegal Aliens than Bush" is negated by more Illegal Aliens coming into the US. Kind of like attempting to bail water out of the RMS Titanic with a single small metal bucket with a hole in the bottom.
President Obama's March 2009 Policy CREATED more Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists. And you don't even know the Title of that President Obama March 2009 Policy do you. (Removed from the Democratic National Committee List of President Obama Achievements after the Adverse Irreversible Results became known).
And your "We" sh!t, I don't see YOUR arse chasing Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists all over the World, living in a hole in the ground for weeks sh!tting and peeing in plastic bags conducting Special Surveillance, verifications of targets by Special Reconnaissance, Terminal Guidance, and later verifications by DNA sample collections.
Once again a NON Participant posts NONSENSE.
When we (US Military Asymmetric Warfare Teams) are attached to the Agencies we become US Civilians conducting a "Para Military" Operations. This is just like the LIE, that there were "No US Military Boots on the Ground" at Libya. During Libya we were placed on Standby for Redeployment from here (Afghanistan) to Libya to provide Security, Targeting and Target Damage Assessments, Special Reconnaissance (locate Gaddaffi, if possible capture), etc. capabilities to the CIA's SAD/SOG since we were the most experienced (Islamic languages and culture), fortunately for us the other less experienced Teams (African languages and cultures) were sent from US AFRICOM.
What President Obama has DONE, not what he says, to DISABLE the US Military:
a. March 2009 President Obama states his March 2009 Policy.
b. April 2009 as Commander In Chief President Obama Orders the US Military Defense Budget Cuts during 2 Wars (Iraq, Afghanistan) and 4 President Obama Secret Wars (outed by Senator Liebermann). The US Congressional Representatives to save the "US Military Pet Projects/Programs" in YOUR States (US Civilian Jobs) reappropriate the US Military Training Funds, US Military Operational Funds, US Military Sustainment Funds, US Military Maintenance Funds, etc., RESULTS: The US Military at Iraq, Afghanistan must ration ammunition, Retrain the untrained new US Military just to survive, rationing of everything else (Food, Water, Facilities use, Airstrikes, etc.), defer required Maintenance, etc..
c. President Obama Relieves General McKiernan of Command, since General McKiernan requests more US Military Forces to accomplish the General McKiernan Plan to Win Afghanistan. President Obama does not have a justifiable reason to Relieve General McKiernan of Command, so he make a Deal with General McKiernan to Retire as a Four Star General, instead of a Three Star General. President Obama grabs General McKiernan's War Plan to Win Afghanistan and claims this as the Obama War Plan to Win Afghanistan; since President Obama does not have any US Military Experience he does not know that without General McKiernan's Commander's Intent, the General McKiernan War Plan to Win Afghanistan is Useless.
d. August 2009 President Obama's Political Appointees Eikenberry and Holbrooke negotiate President Obama's US Civilian Law Enforcement like Rules of Engagement as "Cannot shoot until shot". We must "Beyond a ReasonableDoubt In a US Court of Law" be able to prove that an individual shot at us or be prosecuted by the hundreds of US Lawyers sent here by President Obama's August 2009 US Civilian Surge (to justify their large paychecks and existance here they attempt to go after US Military for anything to meet their quotas. As to why they went after the Deutsche Bundeswehr Commandos for calling in a Airstrike on a Hijacked Fuel Tanker, until the Germans demanded the US Lawyers stop or the Germans (NATO) will withdraw.).
e. President Obama's Political Appointees Eikenberry and Holbrooke start to spend Billions US Taxpayer money with nothing being built nor accomplished. After finding out they are being Investigated they undermine a US Ally's Government by screaming "Karzai Corrupt", eventhough the US Military and Afghans do not have access to these Billions USDs. President Obama's Political Appointees Eikenberry and Holbrooke promised President Karzai to reestablish Electricity at Kabul, President Karzai states this to the Afghans and loses support since this was not accomplished.
f. August 2009 President Obama's US Civilian Surge of hundreds of thousands of privileged overpaid US Civilians that require US Military for Protection and Security. These US Military are then removed from US Military Missions and placed on Guard Duty. General McChrystal as nominated by President Obama and confirmed by US Congress, starts to see just how, "This Administration Does Not Know What It Is Doing". As now General McChrystal's Logistics strained to the breaking point. President Obama's Political Appointees Eikenberry and Holbrooke start to demand that General McChrystal be Relieved of Command to stop his Investigations of their spending Billions USDs per year with nothing being built nor done, Investigations as demanded by President Karzai.
g. The US Military and US Intelligence Agencies start to request President Obama's Authorization to conduct a Special Reconnaissance Mission to verify the location of Osama Bin Laden, President Obama vehemently objects as a Failure would destroy his Political Career. Admiral McRaven (USN SEAL, Commander JSOC) with the support and input of General McChrystal (US Army Special Forces, previous Commander JSOC) with input from us, continues their Plans, including training of Mission Forces of USNSWDG, US Army 160th SOAR, US Army SF, USMC MARSOC, USAF STTs, SAD/SOG, Agencies at Bagram AFB based on full sized models of the OBL Compound based on NRO Satellite Images and Intelligence from on the ground. The Mission locate and capture Osama Bin Laden, failing this Terminate OBL. President Obama wants scapegoats, the then Director of his Executive Intelligence Agency, CIA, Director Leon Penetta accepts this role as well as Delegated Presidential Authority along with Admiral McRaven. The Appropriations then come from the CIA and not the President Obama's April 2009 chopped US Military Defense Budget.
h. President Obama relieves General McChrystal of Command. President Obama makes a Deal with General McChrystal to obtain General McChrystal's Letter of Resignation, since President Obama does not have a Legal Leg to stand on pertaining to "Insubordination". Being a Declared Registered Demoncrap General McChrystal accepts President Obama's Deal instead of demanding a Public US Congressional Hearing that would make all those matters of "This Administration Does Not Know What It Is Doing" Public and destroying President Obama'sPolitical Career. Because of what General McChrystal did (not demanding a Public US Congressional Hearing), he left us to be stuck with the problems still going on here at Afghanistan created by President Obama resulting in unnecessary deaths of US Citizens of the US Military.
i. Many more from then till current.
j. President Obama as Commander In Chief demands that Secretary of Defense Gates start a Reduction In Forces of the US Military, US Military thrown out like trash on Unemployment. During his last visit here (Afghanistan) Secretary of Defense Gates Briefs everyone about the upcoming President Obama Reduction In Forces (RIFs) of the US Military, and states that he will be tendering his Letter of Resignation. President Obama makes a Deal with General Petraeus to get his Letter of Resignation and Director of the CIA Leon Penetta (their knowledge of g., h., etc. above; and the USNSWDG rescue of Captain Phillips; that would destroy President Obama's Political Career.).
k. President Obama loses negotiations with the Government of the Islamic Nation of Iraq due to his March 2009 Policy, and continues President Bush's Timetable for the US Military to Withdraw eventhough the situation at Iraq has completely changed. 16,000 minus 1,500 US Embassy personnel provide security (combat patrols outside the wire to keep snipers, motars, rockets out of range) to the 104 acre $1 Billion US Embassy Iraq that cost $1 Billion per year to operate.
l. President Obama as Commander In Chief Orders the implementation of his revised options for his Reduction In Forces (RIF) of the US Military. Secretary of Defense Leon Penetta warns President Obama "that a 10% US MilitaryDefense Budget Cut will result in a Million (US) Civilians becoming Unemployed". The 1% of US Citizens currently Serving in the US Military will be Reduced In Force and thrown on Unemployment as it is also against President Obama's April 2009 Policy, "US Military will not be used to secure US Borders".
m. The majority of the experienced "Middle East" Qualified will be going on Forced Retirements of President Obama's Reduction In Forces (RIF) of the US Military. 1% of 3% (US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces aka Special Warfare) of the 97% US Military Conventional Forces of the 1% of US Citizens currently Serving in the US Military, while the 92% of US Citizens refuse to Serve in the US Military and get paid below minimum wages.
n. 2012 President Obama's Commitment (Treaty, Agreement) to keep US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces at Afghanistan DECADES after the US Military Conventional Warfare Forces leave 2014. Basically, if the US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces get into trouble by the time the President Obama Reduction In Forces (RIF'ed, less capabilities) US Military Conventional Warfare Forces come to the Rescue the US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces are massacred. Those of us that know this (previous experience) that are NOT going on Forced Retirement have submitted their Retirement Packets (Paperwork) including Letters of Resignation.
Good f**king luck Generation X and Generation Y, you don't like listening to Firsthand Experience (of Survivors), this is all on you.
david - With all due respect to you and to your service to our Country - your opinion is no more worthy or no more valuable than any other post on this thread. Your experience may be different and it has obviously made you dislike Obama but not everyone who served shares your opinion and all of us have the right to speak our minds and to vote for whom ever we want to vote for.
Look at the picture of that dude! He looks so angry he's dead!
Oh, and Democrat vs. Republican cry cry waagh, kindly stfu. Unless you want this guy to be alive.
Like I said before:
Good f**king luck Generation X and Generation Y, you don't like listening to FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE (of Survivors), this is all on you.
RESULTS MATTER. And you cannot seem to distinguish the difference between my FACTS (dates, who, where, etc.) versus your opinions (no facts).
What service? He's a bookworm with a keyboard.
Sure, I can give descriptions (not in any books), and what can you give NOTHING but uninformed uneducated non factual opinions.
By the way aren't "bookworms" supposed to know everything (your attempts to denigrate Educated people). As a matter of survival we must know (from Education and more important Firsthand Experience) the Culture(s) and Language(s) of our Area(s) of Operation(s), since we live with the Locals for years of consecutive tours to gain their Trust and not on some FOB, COB, Green Zone, etc. isolated from the Locals.
I wonder if Abu Yahya al-Libi was disappointed when he discovered that his 72 virgins consisted of 69 retired Catholic nun school teachers and 3 priests...
What was last night's sky?
Hehehe........that's all I have to say.
Dave, in all sincerity, what the heck are you talking about?
Are you allergic to plain speaking, or the linking of clearly stated circumstances, linked by some semblance of logical reasoning?
Where were these "hundreds of thousands of privileged overpaid US Civilians"?
You may actually have some valid points to make, about something. But sifting it out that mishmash of jumbled prose, half-stated ideas and vaguely stated or exaggerated "facts" is not worth it at this time of night.
Good night.
I've never heard of this A-Qaida Leader al-Libi killed by a Drone. Who is he?---there seems to be so many leaders in the"pack" of Terrorists belonging to this particular group..
The next prize for Obama is to get the real big "Dog", Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri--why is he so hard to find?; second in Command to OBL, and named "Chief Leader" of Al-Qaida, when OBL died..
After getting all the others, seems strange we cannot get this one---he's probably living in an obvious place in the open like OBL in Pakistan.
Nice trick question, since we are one day ahead of Stateside. Our last night's sky would be your tonight's sky. You want a unclassified verification of where I am at, since the British already released the movie Prometheus at Great Britain, and I already watched the movie with the British (SAS) here (Afghanistan), I can spoil every scene for you.
Good night to you also dman-353357, you are proving that you were NEVER here. Fact we had US Civilians Farmer Joe and his Wife here attempting (they do not even speak Pashtun, Arabic, Dari, etc., so the Translators normally assigned to US Military Combat Units taken away) to teach the Afghans how to do US Tractor Farming, eventhough, the Afghans will NEVER get the Tractor nor the Fuel to even operate Tractors, Platoons of US Military taken away from US Military Missions to become sitting ducks while performing Guard Duty (Security for Farmer Joe and his Wife). We had US Civilian Supply Clerks telling us that we could not get our "Special" Night Vision Device Batteries (Stereoscopic (Depth Perception) Night Vision Devices). General McChrystal had to make the decision to Violate these US Civilians' "Rights" to BurgerKing, Starbucks, Mexican Food, Catered Banquets, etc. so that we could get Bullets and Ammunition; instead of all of the things the US Civilians demanded to be flown in or shipped (under guard of US Military) Convoys from Pakistan or Tajikistan. The US Civilians refusing to pay for the US Security Contractors for their own Security, so the US Military had to provide Security at the Secure Hotels, while the US Military had to live in modified shipping containers or small plywood semi underground "hooches".
You're full of shlt again. After strong wind late yesterday it was full of dirt til 11 pm and gray this morning - don't give me that your time, my time crock.
cheetah-822547,
I am waiting ask me any question about any scene in the movie Prometheus, not in any of the Trailers. Then in a few days when they release the movie Stateside days from now everyone will know. Just so that I do not spoil the movie for everyone I will post that on your Newsvine page.
Nice try, not up here above 6,000 feet, Northeastern Afghanistan.
Skup: There is more to it.
Dreaded Haqqani network is Paki invented and supported network.
Half of NATO forces deaths are due to Pakis.
hey, that way everyone stays scared and hundreds of billions more go to defense contractors
You buried yourself again - lest anyone think you have internet on a mountaintop and can respond to a post within the same minute. You're full of it.
Primary means of communication secure Tactical Satellite, secondary secure RF, third in 2010 US Civilian Contractors installed Cellular Telephone Towers (another Newsvine poster bragged that he was involved; however, we know that the Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban, Al Quada, etc. are using these with their spotters telling estimated altitude (homemade clinometers), direction (magnetic compass and maps), etc. to warn them to unarse an area before an airstrike; just like the WWII "Coast Watchers"), final secure Redacted communications. It is routine for us while on Communications duty to use the internet (video conferencing with family, posting on internet, email, etc.) for us to make sure that everything works 24/7.
As far as the wind, I previously posted on Newsvine about the high speed wind vortexes up here.
Again ask me any question about the movie to verify that I have already seen the movie with the British here (Afghanistan).
GTFO and if you're alter ego is voting you up, take Jon with you.
Still waiting to prove just how wrong you are. Are you afraid to be proven wrong in a few days, ask any questions about the movie Prometheus that are not in the Trailers.
cheetah-822547,
You want a unclassified verification of where I am at, since the British already released the movie Prometheus at Great Britain, and I already watched the movie with the British (SAS) here (Afghanistan), I can spoil every scene for you.
To prove just how WRONG cheetah-822547 is I posted Spoilers to the movie at post #669 (page 26) today to verify that I already watched the movie with the British SAS so that days from now all of you will know just how WRONG cheetah-822547 is. Ask me any other details if you want before the movie is released at the US.
Strike three - the Brits are tight in the southwest.
Once again FAILURE cheetah-822547 I did not say that the Brits were co located with us. And take a guess just how old your information is as to their location after the French have decided to withdraw.
cheetah-822547 = FAILURE.
"...I already watched the movie with the British SAS..."
Gig's up Dave. You're no more US Assymetric Imbalanced Foxhole Anti-ballistic Special Warfare Green Intelligence Mountain Cold Weather Stealth Force Zulu than Gilligan. Start studying Niger.
@David,read your long winded string, interesting writing. Allow me to point out something. A RIF does not mean a soldier gets kicked out and jumps into civilian life. There are "options" offered to the soldier, they may not be great, but they don't throw them out on their butts. If they had planned on retiring they still have an option to do so, it's just the requirements change. and other things to long to talk about here. A RIF can be all forces wide, just one branch of the military, or it can be an area of the world. Even returning the activated Guard Units back to Guard status is a RIF program.
Since before Bush left office has the civilian population of this country been screaming about??? Get out of Iraq and Afghanstan!!! You had a General that had a war plan, as with all plans it had good points and bad points. I don't know but you can bet that we will never see the entire plan, just points as time goes by. I feel that Obama does listen to the people, I also feel that the people want to see troop with drawel instantly. That can't happen! To my thoughts, before a president (don't matter who or affiliation) can do this he needs to find a General that can make it happen. It is not uncommon for Presidents to go from General to General. As to the first Generals Plan, parts of it needed to be kept and parts needed to be rewritten.
Your long winded string will read so true to those who believe every word of it. To the writer of it, Hats off, you did a great job to hide the fact that you are a Republican and next time tell the rest of the story. You might make me a believer.
All you anti-Obama nutcases that are giving Bush the credit for the drone attacks: you realize Bush is not in office. Obama is responsible for what happens now. At least that's what you've been crying about since Obama took office.
cheetah,
"GTFO and if you're alter ego is voting you up, take Jon with you."
I think David votes himself up. I've dealt with him on another thread, and every one of his posts appears immediately with one vote. I believe it's a symptom of the severe ego inflation that is otherwise evident in his posts.
David, you're FOS and a fake. Stop pretending your something other than you really are.
To those unwilling to give Obama credit.
It seems to me that besides our military and CIA doing their jobs, there is something being done different that yields results (dead terrorists) under Obama, at least you guys think our military and our CIA were sabotaging Bush/Cheney efforts.
6dogs - @David,read your long winded string, interesting writing. Allow me to point out something. A RIF does not mean a soldier gets kicked out and jumps into civilian life. There are "options" offered to the soldier, they may not be great, but they don't throw them out on their butts.
How about this since you will not believe me, research the following YOURSELF based on the DOD Releases:
US Army: http://www.armytimes.com/
USAF: http://www.airforcetimes.com
USMC: http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/
USN: http://www.navytimes.com/
US Civilians (to be Downsized):
add to post#1.131.
US Civilians (to be Downsized): http://www.federaltimes.com/
The above links indicate the numbers, States, Units, etc. that will be thrown on Unemployment by President Obama's RIFs of the US Military (and US Civilians that provided support to US Military, no longer needed).
Their current Option, is Receive Outprocessing Briefing, sign paperwork indicating they received Outprocessing Briefing, acknowledging accuracy of DD214, given plane ticket. The US Military Reserves and State's National Guard are no longer an Option as they too are doing their own Reduction In Forces.
I already mentioned that as to why many are submitting their Retirement Packets.
Unfortunately, those people he listens to state non factual popular opinions. Do you see him explaining everything like I am; well, the people deserve the Facts. He never listens to his "Experts", previous Secretary of Defense Gates, General McKiernan, General McChrystal, General Petraeus, etc..
P.S. 6dogs there is NO difference between Repugnants, Demoncraps, In Depends (in Adult Diapers) or Scrotums (Tea Baggers) as they all do this:
The Price Tag Of Politics
As Bob Schieffer explains, Politicians generally listen to the ones who gave them the money to get where they are today and in the end, once they reach Washington their positions are set in stone, thanks to lobbyists and special interest groups.

Ha, ha, jealous that Jon voted my post up. Unlike your UNINFORMED UNEDUCATED ARSE at least cheetah-822547 checked.
What's the matter you are pissed that I shot down you non factual opinions with Facts and other Newsvine Posters laughed at you on another thread.
You are right I am NOT US ASS YMETRIC, nor Imbalanced, etc. minus your RACIAL SLUR.
Shows just how much you DO NOT KNOW about the US Military, you do tend up with many Career Fields after over 30 years. As far as FOS and Fake, sure you believe I love being miserable, I described the conditions we are living under in other Topics. I did a Man Up to the mistakes that I made that removed me from a "Desk Job" into my current Career Field (US Military Asymmetric Warfare, Combat during what other US Military (Conventional Warfare Forces) called "Peacetime" US Military).
Like I stated before, We don't give a F**k what you think (your non factual opinions), we are going back on Retirement again:
Good f**king luck Generation X and Generation Y, you don't like listening to FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE (of Survivors), this is all on you.
david,
"Unlike your UNINFORMED UNEDUCATED ARSE"
I am not uneducated. I am a military officer myself, retired. And if you are really in Afghanistan, as you claim to be, why are you waisting your time posting on Newsvine instead of fighting the war? I would think you would have enough to keep you busy. Does your superior officer have to pull you away from the computer every time he has something for you to do?
David, you and I have had a few differences of opinion in the past on other posts. That does not change the fact that I have always enjoyed reading your posts and found them to be well written and informative. I have been corrected by you on occasion, but am enough of an adult to accept a rebuke when warranted. Some here are apparently not. I am a retired U.S, Navy Hospital Corpsman who retired with 20 years of service that included Vietnam and the 1st Gulf War. I was not a big fan of GWB and admittedly am even less so of President Obama. I sincerely thank you for your service to our country. I make no claims to be any kind of expert except in my own area of training which happened to be emergency field combal medicine, but I have seen combat and been around the block a time or two. I am willing to, at least initially, give anyone the benefit of the doubt. My general impression regarding the comments from the individuals above is that some are intimidated by your knowlwdge and ability to refute their arguments. Personally I find it somewhat amusing. Keep up the good work and may come home safe and sound. Have a good day, or evening that is depending on what time it is wherever you may be.
Ed-NavDoc,
"My general impression regarding the comments from the individuals above is that some are intimidated by your knowlwdge and ability to refute their arguments."
I am not intimidate by anyone or anything, and I think it is perfectly legitimate to question dave as to what he is doing posting these lengthy posts on Newsvine when he is supposedly fighting a war in Afghanistan.
Mickey, my intention was not to single out any one person in particular. If it appeared so in your case, please accept my apologies. It was just an impression I got overall. As I stated above, David and I do not always agree and when we don't, we have let each other know. He has always treated me respectfully and with courtesy. All are entitled to their opinions and I respect their right to them. I just ask the same in return. Have a good day.
Ed-NavDoc,
"All are entitled to their opinions and I respect their right to them."
And I apologize to you. I thought your post was directed at me. But I do have a serious problem with dave's posts. It is around 4 or 5 A.M. in Afghanistan now by my estimation. It seems to me dave should either be in bed sleeping right now or on duty. And if he is on duty, he should be performing his military duties which I am sure do not include surfing the web and posting political commentary. Yes, he is entitled to his opinions just as we all are, but the military frowns on servicemen posting political comments online, especially ones that denigrate their Commander-in-Chief. There was a Marine just recently who was discharged from the Marine Corps as a result of a court martial for posting his opinions online about Obama. So if dave is active duty military, he had best be careful about what he posts.
Most of us are completely worn out. We don't know if and when we will be coming home, as President Obama just agreed for us to remain here (Afghanistan) after the US Military Conventional Warfare Forces leave 2014. I have submitted my Retirement Packet, and Letter of Resignation; knowing that they do not have to accept either.
Ed-NavDoc knows from previous Newsvine Posts that I perform the "Duty" (Communications Watch, and like SDO (Staff Duty Officer)) of my subordinate Officers as Basic Leadership 101, "Share the Hardships". Ed-NavDoc also knows from my previous Newsvine Posts my ulterior motive for my Newsvine Posts (a record, just in case).
Emotive NON Factual Opinions are NOT Tolerated; however, documented FACTS are allowed.
Ever heard the term Hypocrite, screaming "Democracy", "Freedom of Speech" while making exceptions as long as they do not pertain to yourself (just like US Congress passes US Laws that exclude themselves).
david,
"Emotive NON Factual Opinions are NOT Tolerated; however, documented FACTS are allowed.
Ever heard the term Hypocrite, screaming "Democracy", "Freedom of Speech" while making exceptions as long as they do not pertain to yourself (just like US Congress passes US Laws that exclude themselves)."
Have you ever heard of Article 133 of the UCMJ ("Conduct Unbecoming an Officer")? You might want to look into it. It's a "catch-all". A word to the wise is sufficient.
Article 134 is the "Catch All" for the UCMJ.
As far as Article 133 "Conduct Unbecoming of an Officer" you might want to read the Required Duties of a US Military Officer as a Written Contract from US Congress as the US Military Officer's Commissioning Certificate as to why General McChrystal could not be nailed for "Insubordination" and President Obama had to make a Deals with General McChrystal, General McKiernan, General Petraeus to Retire as Four Star Generals instead of Three Star Lieutenant Generals to get their Letter of Resignation.
david,
I think general officers occupy a world of their own. I would not want to bet my career on what becomes or does not become of any general officer. Are you a general officer? I doubt it. You might also want to take a look at Article 88:
“Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”
Mickey-1983943,
Did you read your US Military Officer's Commissioning Certificate yet.
Too bad President Obama, General McKiernan, General McChrystal, General Petraeus set the Legal Precedent for all US Military Officers (not NCOs nor Enlisted).
david,
I haven't read my commissioning certificate in a long time. I have been retired for 20 years. But what is your point? That it makes you immune from prosecution under the UCMJ? If they set some kind of precedent, it would not be in my commissioning certificate.
Mickey-1983943,
I am NOT going to post again a very long explanation about the US Congressional US Military Officer's Commissioning Certificate, the Oath of Office for US Military Officers, the Oath of Enlistment for NCOs and Enlisted, the Four Legal Authorities Over the US Military as taught by Legal Professionals at War College, etc..
As too many Newsvine Posters do not want Facts or my long Posts explaining everything.
Hint for your future research: The Founding Fathers had reasons to put into place written checks and balances.
david,
"I am NOT going to post again a very long explanation about the US Congressional US Military Officer's Commissioning Certificate, the Oath of Office for US Military Officers, the Oath of Enlistment for NCOs and Enlisted, the Four Legal Authorities Over the US Military as taught by Legal Professionals at War College, etc"
That's fine with me. You are obviously a young, more recently commissioned officer. You are probably more familiar with any recent changes that have been made to the commissioning process than I would be. I am an old-timer. I was commissioned under President Jimmy Carter way back in the stone age. I would still be careful about what I post on the Internet if I were you.
Nope. "as taught by Legal Professionals at War College, etc..", what Grade attends War College.
By the way do you know why some refer to me as a Dinosaur that somehow survived the Stone Age or Ice Age behind my back, I am not exactly a spring chicken (no matter how much younger I really wish I was with the the knowledge I currently have, so as not to repeat the same mistakes and expect different results from when I was young.).
It is also my Responsibility to know all the Legal mumbo jumbo as well as keeping up with all the current changes, being in the middle of nowhere, it is not like I can go see the nearest JAG Officer.
Two more hours of Duty and I get to get some sleep if nothing else happens that my Officers or Senior NCOs cannot take care of (rare).
I've said this before; regurgitate all you want of civil/military affairs and history but when you present credentials of active military that whip these armchair Archie Bunkers into believing US policy is something it isn't, I'll be there to show you're a three dollar bill. Unusual that someone of your stature would go to sleep at 11 am.
cheetah-822547,
Still waiting for you to add to an Adult Conversation of Newsvine "Get Smarter Here" by stating FACTS.
Why don't you go Troll and butt into someone else's Adult Conversation instead of what Mickey-1983943 and I are discussing.
Nobody is holding a gun to your head to read our posts.
A phony who votes himself up.
cheetah-822547,
Still waiting for you to add to an Adult Conversation of Newsvine "Get Smarter Here" by stating FACTS.
Go phishing for information someplace else.
Your methodology:
Insult the Posters enough to piss them off.
Then demand creditials and specifics about the Posters.
I'm not demanding your credentials. You've demonstrated you don't possess them - after conveying the idea that you're a forty year soldier.
David, in your original post, you speak of "of hundreds of thousands of privileged overpaid US Civilians" being deployed in Afghanistan, not scores of civilians, thousands of civilians, but hundred of thousands, meaning more than 200,000 civilians. When pressed for details, you respond with talk of a "Farmer Joe and his Wife", attempting to teach the Afghans about tractor farming.
Wow, David, I'm totally blown away by your ability to vet your claims and tie them to a logical argument. It really shows that you've been to this country ...and seen and heard only what fit into your preconceived notions.
I have no doubt that civilians are present in Afghanistan, at work in support duties, helping to build the infrastructure of the country, construct schools, and in teaching more modern farming techniques. But the fine example of your "Farmer Joe and his Wife", not withstanding, I seriously doubt that their total numbers are in excess of 100,000, let alone 2 times that number. I doubt too that all of their efforts are misdirected or wasted
You may not wish to acknowledge it, but it is not, and cannot be this country's goal to maintain a large combat presence in Afghanistan indefinitely, and since a country's military power is inextricably linked to the strength of its political, economic and legal infrastructure, it stands to reason that our mission there cannot be limited to just directly fighting the Taliban. We must also be working to build up Afghanistan's civilian capacity to function as a cohesive nation.
Rather than just cast stones at the shortcomings of the current administration's policies in Afghanistan, would it not be wiser, and more honest, to note the deficiencies of the previous administration, which neglected Afghanistan for five-plus years to pursue an ill-advised and gratuitous war in Iraq.
If we had maintained our efforts in Afghanistan in the years between 2003 and 2008, do you really believe we would still be fighting there today?
Please be serious.

http://usgovinfo.about.com/cs/consumer/a/aaspoofing.htm
You be serious. Farmer Joe and His Wife was just one example of how the US Department of State is spending Billions USDs US Taxpayer money NOT accessable to the US Military nor the Afghans.
You want to talk about the US Civilian Law Enforcement sent here to train the Afghans, the US Civilians sent here to train Afghans as Afghan Military, the US Civilians that came here and built hundred millions USDs each crappy one room school houses to US Standards that collapsed during the First Winter don't worry those were only schools with Afghan children in those schools (extreme sarcasm).
Sure b!tch about the US Department of State spending Billions of USDs of US Taxpayer money, without knowing who the US Taxapayer money is paying or what it is being misspent on. You want to talk about the upcoming $1 Billion US Embassy for Afghanistan and the $1 Billion per year it costs to operate that US Department of State Disneyland Resort and Spa, just like the ones at Iraq and Pakistan.
And yes, you thought you could slip a post in while I was sleeping, well I was NOT sleeping I had to give a briefing to a surprise visitor, you will hear about that tomorrow (Thursday).
David - You've yet to offer any documentation of any of your claims. Talk of a anecdotal character named "Farmer Joe", who may relate to some specific person, proves little.
So, please, in the interest of open debate, show me some documentary evidence that " hundreds of thousands of privileged overpaid US Civilians" have been deployed in Afghanistan, not one or two farmers.
Show me some evidence of wide spread collapse of schools built with U.S. aid and guidance. I'm looking for numbers here, not just anecdotal accounts of things you have seen or heard.
To claim some thing is so is easy. To demonstrate it is true takes demonstrable facts, not vague assertions and sourceless claims.
...and, I'm still curious as to the apparent absence of anger on your part regarding the neglect of Afghanistan during the last 5 years of the Bush administration. How does the nearly 1 trillion dollars spent in Iraq compare with the billion dollars being spent to build a U.S. Embassy?
I'm not trying to sneak in a response while you are sleeping. I've no idea where you are located, and in what time zone; so I've no idea when you are asleep or awake, and I don't write these posts just to exercise my typing skills.
david - Seriously buddy. Get over yourself. If you really are in the service, you need to get out because you are going to be the next headline about a soldier who snaps under the pressure.
I already posted all of that including links (videos, articles, etc.) that verify what I observed from when General McChrystal was here, and things have NOT changed the US Civilians from then, were replaced by more US Civilians (got worse). Just click on david-475776 and go to my previous Newsvine Posts.
In the previous posts on Newsvine I mentioned all the support in detail required just for US Civilians Farmer Joe and Wife (real names in the CBS News video link that I used) that also showed the US Army Platoon providing Security. I talked about the Translators required that were taken away from US Military Combat Units in daily contact with the locals. The fact that Farmer Joe and his Wife are NOT going to live in a hole in the ground or a modified shipping container, or eat sheep, goat, chicken, rice or fried bread for the whole time they are here, and that means Burger King, Starbucks, Mexican, TGIF Friday's (USAF Base), KFC and McDonalds (Kabul), etc. (AP Link with photos verification of my observations of the "Boardwalk") with all of that having to be shipped here (air or ground convoys from Pakistan and or Tajikistan) and run by US Civilians, I also mentioned how most of the US Civilians refuse to eat at the US Military Dining Facilities including the US Civilians that manage them, and of course they are also not going to crap or pee in the bushes and wipe with whatever so toilet paper shipped in, Porta Potties, etc.. The John Deere Tractor and Fuel shipped in with more US Civilians to provide Maintenance for the John Deere Tractor, and these John Deere maintenance US Civilians need support also. I also mentioned the over 3,000 US Contractors with Offices here that are all competing for the US Department of State Contracts, many keep hundreds each of US Civilians on hand just in case they do get the Contracts. I mentioned all the US Construction their heavy equipment, fuel, materials, etc. also. I mentioned the names of the Hotels here that the US Civilians use with the US Military providing security. The $200,000.00 US Civilian Truck Drivers driving daily from Tajikistan and or Pakistan (AP Article link verification). I had references including photos, videos for all of that on my previous Newsvine Posts that verified what I had observed with the Newsvine Posters complaining about my posts being too long (that one post was almost twenty times longer including all the links and references verfying my observations).
The Newsvine Posts about the Humanitarian Assistance Mission of our US Military Asymmetric Mountain Warfare, I stated what we do, how we do it pertaining to the Schools and Medical Clinics, and the details of what the US Construction do (and Fail) this was verified by a later BBC News Article (Video), CBS News (Laura Logan or Katie Couric when she interviewed General McKiernan?), CBN (700 Club), that I linked. This is also why that fraud that was claiming some baloney about Three Cups of Tea, building Schools and taking all that donated money got his arse prosecuted we never saw him here in my AOR (Area of Responsibility).
What's the matter jealous that you have NO Experience and are talking out of your rectal oriface.
You might have snapped by now but you are NOT me. As having been here during Operation Cyclone, then back here from Retirement just after 9/11 2001, then back again from Retirement since 2005.
Like I said before all of you ungrateful can deal with this Generation X and Generation Y. Most of us have already submitted our Retirement Packets and Letters of Resignation. If you ever need us again dial: 1-800-Dial-A-Prayer.

You can quote You Tube til tanks fly. A few exaggerated anecdotes are just that and you've never seen the place to argue differently. You're not in Afghanistan and have never been. You're a fraud using phony credentials to make others look bad. Last night you left a discussion with the innuendo that you were called to brief Peneta.
There are two folks who used to post quite a bit - Rich-1210649 and Mackie. Rich thought an unmanned satellite launched by the government was microwaving him and Mackie thought the gays and the government were invading her home town. They don't come around anymore so I think the "elevator stopped going to the top floor". Check out some of their posts. You have just joined them in the crazy, paranoid, delusional realm. Good luck to you. I hope you're ok.
Next!
Isn't it great to see all of our top enemies are living in the borders of our friend Pakistan?
Kudos to Obama for being politically astute enough to get the best of both worlds. He can turn them to dust in Pakistan, and still claim they should be brought to justice under the U.S. judicial system.
Turning them to dust is being brought to justice under the US judicial system. Way to go!
WTF. You think there's a Pakastani judicial system. You cannot cartoon their prophet, but you can harbor murderous POS's. F'em all.
Pakistan is not "embarrassed" about this corrupt situation. The Paki's continue to profiteer from harboring terrorists, because they receive funding from the USA to "fight terrorism" and "maintain stability", so they need terrorists to pay money to the rich corrupt in their country.
Why is there no more talk or news reports on Kharzai's brother the biggest heroin dealer in Pakistan ?
OK, that is final straw, I am siding with India on Kashmir.
LOL!
You always should have.
I like it when she wears it I like to rub up against it nothing like Kashmir LOL
Why? England's Empire made up that border out of thin air...it's exactly this type of Empire, nation-building nonsense that invented that entire "border" dispute.
And cheerleading for this continued drone bombing, while it kills countless innocent civilians along with the occasional terrorist, is making us less safe. Do you really think it's religion and our freedom they kill us over? Or might it be all the women and children we keep wiping out? They bombed a Mosque full of civilians just the other day.
Ingroup/outgroup psychology...look it up. All the state does is start conflicts and then ask you to ignore that cause, and deplore some foreign enemy of their own creation.
If you think that's okay, then let me give you a disease and then sell you the cure, and give me a reward for being a "hero".
Actually ProIndividual, it is working. It also makes it known to others that you do not want to associate with terrorists, as standing next to them is not exactly safe. When they keep them at arms reach, they wont hear all the hateful gibberish they keep spouting.
British invented that Pakistan and the US sustained it.
See the big time backstabbing by Pakis.
When the NATO forces were entering Kandahar in 2001, Pakis airlifted key al-Qaida, Taliban, ISI and others militants by back door from Kandahar.
This includes Mullah Omar, Osama and many including Haqqani militant network leaders.
Still Bush & co went on assuming that Pakis are allies on war on terror and Gen Mush is the best pal
The US and allies pumped in huge economic and military aids into Pakistan.
Still the US and NATO forces did not have a clue that Pakis are providing staging ground and diverting economic aids to militants fighting NATO forces!
What a way to fight wars and lose badly from all angles!
With allies like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, one does not need enemies!
Like I always say "Drones and Spec Ops". Keep on truck'in baby!!!!
Keep on killin' civilians baby!
Some people have no clue and cheerlead for murder...because it's "us" vs "them". Statism and nationalism are mental diseases.
How about we address the cause of suicide terrorism (foreign interventionism)? Maybe?!?
The "winning" tactic to beating suicide terrorism is to stop causing it. There is a clear cause. You don't advocate stopping the cause, you advocate continued "collateral damage", so you can beat off to a few dead terrorists, no matter the real costs.
You go do that, seems that everyone thinks that President Obama is doing the weeks to months Special Surveillance, Targeting, Terminal Guidance, and getting the DNA Samples afterwards from here at Northeastern Afghanistan.
Like:
And you wonder why most of us are tendering our Letters of Resignation to go back on Retirement, see post # 1.102.
Hint: If you start at age 18-20, by the time you are trained (not including college level language(s) and culture(s) for your Area(s) of Operation(s), age 39 to 42-43) you will be about age 35 if you don't fail the Assessments to the Teams. Of the thousands of us that started during the 1980s there are only less than a hundred of us left, the rest were killed in action, or wounded (missing limbs, mission not capable). No replacements were trained due to the President Clinton Cut to the Bone Reduction In Forces (RIFs) of the US Military as to why we keep getting Recalled to Active Duty in the Special Category (excuse of "Needs of National Security") from Retirement.
Once again:
Good f**king luck Generation X and Generation Y, you don't like listening to FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE (of Survivors), this is all on you.
Man up or Woman up (take Responsibility) for your Decisions and prove this with your Actions (volunteer to replace us) not excuses (blame game).
They condemned themselves by providing Fundamentalist Islamic Sanctuary to the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists as against the President Obama US Laws, the January 21, 2009 Patriot Acts, Section of No Material Support to Terrorist Organizations.
Yes, the Clear Cause is the 109 Suras of the 114 Suras of the Holy Koran (Quran) Calls to War Against the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers, and the Fundamentalist Islamic Believers making the Fundamentalist Islamic Interpretation of this being Fundamentalist Islamic Law with the Death Penalty (Fatawa Lists) being the consequence for anyone not participating in the Holy Koran (Quran) Calls to War Against the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers; or anyone that is a Collaborator to the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers "to Die a Horrible Murdering".
examples: a. The Massacres of the 20,000 to 50,000 Pro US Afghan Muhajeen by the 1990s Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban, then the massacres of any suspected Collaborators to the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers, the 1990s Fundamentalist Islamic Talibanmassacres of the Taoists, Buddhists, etc.. The 1990s Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban destruction of anything "Non Islamic", "Western", "Modern" starting of 20th Century Afghanistan (built up by the US during the 1950 to 1979) then the lights literally went out at Afghanistan after the 1990s Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban destroyed the Electric Power Stations; all of this filmed by the USSR Tass News as other International News Media banned from Afghanistan. That was about the time that we exfiltrated from Afghanistan into Pakistan.
b. The Peaceful African Islamic Believers at the Sudan refuse to participate in the Holy Koran (Quran) Calls to War Against the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers by attacking the African Christians at the Southern Sudan and are massacred by the Fundamentalist Islamic Arabic Omani Muslims by the hundreds a day millions to date. As part of the UN Observer Mission to Sudan (Darfur) we were NOT allowed to interfere.
c. Many more examples from Firsthand Experience.
Sure there is a Clear Cause called Fundamentalist Islam.
Also ProIndividual, Islam has called for the killing of innocents and anyone who is not a muslim since the birth of the religion. Long before the US ever came to be. The truth is, it is both the Quaran and Mohammad that caused the terrorism to begin with centuries ago.
@David475776, What are you really peeved about? You seamed to have resigned and came back and repeated this 2 or 3 times. Just retire and stay there. The last person I would want to be shoulder to shoulder with is one that is carrying a big chip on there shoulder as you sound to have.
Don't be fooled, Muhammad has nothing in common with man we refer to as "Jesus the Christ". The Muslims claim he was only a prophet, they say this to put him on a lower level of "only a prophet" and make Muhammad appear to be on the same level, false propaganda by a tyrant proclaiming his new "religion".
There is nothing "peaceful" about a religion that enslaves women, and pronounces death sentences to it's critics.
Muslims are afraid of losing their control over women and denounce all cultures that allow women freedom.
Joseph Smith was polygamist, another type of abuse of women rights, and the Republican front runner follows this "religion". He should get along well with the Saudis, after he gets his car elevator built and notices how "the trees in Michigan are the right height", and then whines about President Obama not being able to repair 30 years of corruption and poor oversight on behalf of the US Congress, Federal Reserve Bank, Wall Street Banksters, and greedy corrupt to the core out of control corporations-are-people.
The Facts from Decades of Firsthand Experience remain the same. Peeved, sure, you watch people that you knew since the 1980s die while only the 1% of US Citizens are Serving in the US Military, while 92% of US Citizens REFUSE to even Serve. I am really peeved that President Obama has NOT full filled his Verbal Contract of starting up the Selective Service and or Manditory Compulsory US Military Service as his solution during the Presidential Debates to solve the 1% of US Citizens continually being Deployed, "to Force the 92% of US Citizens to Do Their Fair Share" - Candidate Obama's and "US Military Service is a Civic Duty" and "US Citizenship is not an Entitlement" (Earned US Citizenship).
That is what most of us wanted before being Recalled from Retirement over and over again, Resulting in completely destroying our 2nd, 3rd US Civilian Careers, Divorces, loss of Child Custody, Bankruptcy, etc.. As far as staying on Retirement, finally most of us are now in the Category of "Too Old" to ever be Recalled to Active Duty ever again, unless CONUS is invaded.
We would not want your arse to be shoulder to shoulder with us either. As you would only get us killed with your inexperienced arse and non factual opinions. And I would have to waste manpower by assigning two babysitters to watch over your arse, and these babysitters would hate your arse because they will attempt to save your arse after you make the small mistakes that will get you killed.
When are we going into Pakistan to get that dirtbag surgeon al-Zawahiri? (Yet another "ignorant impoverished Muslim terrorist." Bwahahahahaha! Don't believe the propaganda!)
Hellfire missles, the only way to die...
Now he can hang out with his 72 virgins playing Dungeons and Dragons.
Actually, the twelve virgins is a misinterpretation of the promise.......he gets to spend eternity getting his butt kicked by 72 Virginians.....
Hey, Hey, HEY! Don't go insulting D&D players now. They're all virgins anyway.
Great Job Military... Fulminate of Mercury for when you care to send the very best...
Perhaps we should paint Hallmark crowns on all our drones, to shew that we care enough to send the very best!
Hallmark Crowns, I like that.
Too bad we have to fly a drone half way around the world to kill Yaba Daba Doo or whatever his name was. I wish we had a rail gun or something that we could just launch a projectile from Arizona and take out these dirt bags. Perhaps we can put that in the next stimulus.
I don't know about rail gun technology but the US has been able to hit a dirt house from several thousand miles away. However, none of these killing methods would let you see what your shooting at before shooting, its that real time intel that make the difference.
time to use some heavy bombs with some real shock and awe. A couple of 10 Ton MOAB and you may start to see the population in Warizistan capitulate. Nothing but fear looking at a non nuclear mushroom clouds with a kill radius over a mile. We can always wish.
Yabba Dabba Doo...I love it....LOLOOLOL
We don't fly them half way around the world. These attacks are launched just hundreds of miles away from bases in Pakistan. Despite many of the "complaints" in the press from the Pakistan government, they aren't really trying to stop us and we fly from right there in their country with their permission. I will grant you that the controllers may very well be sitting here in the US in some cases, but the drones are local. A few may fly from Afghanistan too however most are based right there in Pakistan for these attacks. Pakistan "chased us out" of one base to create a public scene, but in reality they just moved to another base.
That's interesting.
Not a few, as we already knew that the Fundamentalist Islamic Believers of Pakistan (not the US Ally Pakistanis Government) were providing Intelligence everytime a MQ or RQ was launched from US Bases at Pakistan.
Proof that you KNOW NOTHING and don't learn from mistakes and expect different results. During Operation Cyclone the USSR 40thArmy Occupation attempted Total Conventional War with more assets than the US and US Allies combined currently have. This included and was not limited to Carpet Bombing, millions of area denial munitions (Landmines), Chemical Warfare (Agent Purple, Mustard Gas, Poisoning Water Wells, etc.), Tank Divisions flattening entire Afghan Villages and massacring the villagers, etc.. With us (US Military Training Teams to Pakistan/Afghanistan) training then leading the 1980s Pro US Afghan Muhajeen in Asymmetric Warfare (aka Special Warfare) against the USSR 40th Army Conventional Warfare Forces. All those massacres by the USSR 40th Army Conventional Warfare Forces only gave us more Afghans to recruit to kill the USSR 40th Army Conventional Warfare Forces as revenge. You want to see the US Ally Pakistanis Government get Overthrown by the Fundamentalist Islamic Believers at Pakistan sure give them an excuse.
That is correct, especially since MQs and RQs cannot see horizontally into buildings (doorways, windows, etc.) if the buildings are located close together. (the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists might seem to be stup!d but they know things like this and use this to their advantage).
So who is next?
I don't who it will be, but I'll bet it'll be the "Number 2" man again!! I don't know why anyone would want that job anymore?
Kinda like being a red shirt security man on old Star Trek episodes. Kirk, Spock, Scotty and Ensn Dombrowski from security beaming to a planet. Who's the dead man walking?
The killing of this man, as well as some others, does not mean Al-Qaeda is dying or is dead! To really kill this terrorist organization, one has to be able to kill it upon which it stands...it's ideology!
Agreed however it is an ideology that has lost a lot of luster in its community. Gone are the days of thousands of idealistic young men abandoning their families and livelihoods to join the jihad, it isn't as much fun being a jihadi when all you are going to do is hunker down in 7th century Waziristan with an eye to the sky at all times...
Killing them doesn't mean it's over, but you need to realize that the reason we are getting so many of them is that many of the people in the region are ratting them out. That is the turning of the tide of ideology. When they no longer get the complete support of their reluctant hosts, then you know that they are a dying movement.
Our technology is great, but we still can't read DNA from a satellite. You can be sure that the way we are getting the intel on these guys from the locals who have no use for them. Remember, these guys aren't even Pakistanis, they are foreigners that come there for refuge. But while they are there, they are exploiting the locals, most of whom just want to get back to their subsistence farming and goat herding and who could care less about America or any other government for that matter.
You're absolutely right, but we'll never be able to kill the ideology these people stand for. No matter how wrong global society deems a particular belief system, there are still plenty of people who support it, just think about the Nazis and the KKK.
What we can do is attack the leadership that mobilizes the membership to commit the acts that the leadership deems necessary to further their cause. I'm not against the ideology, I'm against the violence the group uses in the name of ideology. When their leadership determines that violence is not the correct way to promote their agenda, then our military can stand down.
Good work Americans! Keep after these muslim scum! But it's way past time for all civilized people to realize that Al-Qaeda is in existance because of the rank and file muslims who do nothing to stop terrorists, in fact they sit quietly and silently approve. Every muslim who does nothing to stop terrorism ( and that is all of them) should be held just as accountable as these cowardly terrorists. The entire culture of islam is the enemy here.
How do we Americans really know that these weapons, and those that are the targets, really are who we claim they are? Also, how do we know that these same weapons are not killing innocent people? A bomb does not discriminate. And........................................................
That which is used against our "enemies" can also be used against you.The same technology is being supplied to American law enforcement, along with the spy drones to have Big Brother's Eye in the sky above your state, town and neighborhood. A sword has two sides, so be careful of what you praise or dismiss.
There are few other countries with drones, but your 2nd point still stands. Our defence is cutting edge, however, and defence doesn't cut, it bashes.
What about the Nazis and the KKK? Are they engaging in global terrorism?
A red-herring pittance compared to the worldwide presence of Al Queda and other Mid-East fanatics.
Godwin's Law for you.
Please don't condemn all Muslims for the actions of a few. It makes you appear to be a low life hate monger.
Have you not heard that we must win the hearts and minds of the people. When you make sweeping generalizations you are turning away the very people that could help resolve the conflict. The track you are on is self defeating. There are millions of Muslims that do not agree with terrorism. WWJD?
I admit that Jesus (the man of peace) is a much better prophet than Mohammad but you should also be aware that Jews, Christians, and Muslims all pray to the "One God" of Abraham. You should also know that religious fanaticism is wrong no matter what the stripe.
Yea, but the next guy in line is thinking about converting to Judaism when the smoke clears.
afton,
Well there's a lot of things we don't really know for absolute certainty, but I'm still going to trust my government's word more than that of the people who don't like getting bombed and would rather be able to hide with no one able to reach them.
And although, bombs are not discriminating, these Hellfire missiles work extremely well, aren't so large as to create a lot of collateral damage and are about as close to a sniper as you can get from the air. This is pretty damn good technology. Was one of these guys' wives or kids killed too? I suppose that's possible, but is that our fault? Are they truly innocent if they are making IEDs or serving as pack mules for these guys? Our troops don't take their families with them into battle and even if they did, you can be sure these guys would consider them prime targets. That said, I think we take that into consideration, but recognize that some collateral damage will potentially occur. Panetta say's it has been very few. As a US citizen, I tend to trust him and if the evidence supports that, I will accept it. Bottom line is all these guys are "civilians". It's not like the have a real military with uniforms and flags and such.
As to drone use here in the US, I think the bigger threat to privacy comes not from government use, but from private sector use. In fact, they recently opened that door for private sector use. The guys who want intelligence on you so they can more efficiently separate you from your money. The private sector already collects far more data on you than the government does.
The only "hate monger(s)" are the 1.5 Billion Islamic Believers that are paying the Mandatory Islamic Tithes to support the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists Worldwide.
The Minority of 1.7 Million Islamic Believers living at the US or "Western" Nations do NOT determine what Islam is or is NOT for the Majority of 1.5 Billion Islamic Believers Worldwide.
It is a fact that the Majority of Islamic Believers are Fundamentalist Islamic Believers (Muslims defined as completely subjugated to Islam) since it is the Fundamentalist Islamic Believers that believe (Fundamentalist Interpretation of the Holy Koran (Quran) as Law, Hadith (Ancient Islamic Customs) as Laws as justifications for the killing off of all Non Fundamentalist Islamic Believers, as the Centuries Old War between the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia (aka Sharia Laws) and the Non Fundamentalist Liberal Interpretation of the Holy Koran (Quran) "Heretics" Sunnis. The use of Armed Force by Fundamentalist Islam First and no empty words (negotiations) as the Dead cannot complain previous Fundamentalist Islam massacres at Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, etc. and currently Somalia (also Fundamentalist Islam's use of Starvation as a Weapon (Fundamentalist Islamic Hamas Warlords at Palestine, Fundamentalist Islamic Al Sheebah at Somalia, Fundamentalist Islamic Arabic Omani Muslims at Sudan, etc.).
Just a little more unclassified information for you. To minimize collateral damage we are using MQs equipped with missiles with warheads smaller than the Hellfire missiles. This also allows the MQs to carry 8 smaller missiles instead of 4 "Hellfire" missiles.
Because after days, weeks, months of Special Surveillance we know who we are going to terminate using Terminal guidance.
I previously warned all of you about President Obama's January 21, 2009 Patriot Acts (plural); but, all of you kept being..............with your emotive non factual opinions; while I stated line by line from the President Obama Patriot Acts what was happening.
President Obama shown here signing his Patriot Acts into US Laws during a staged news media event January 22, 2009, 3:48 minutes of 11:55 minutes:
Naomi Wolf: 'Obama can lock any US citizen up without trial'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLSeD19m3UE
Then there is President Obama's December 2011 NDAA. Indefinite Detentions of US Citizens (No Trial, No Hearings, No Legal Representation).
Like I stated before: Good f**king luck Generation X and Generation Y, you don't like listening to Firsthand Experience (of Survivors), this is all on you.
No Don, the Nazis and KKK aren't engaged in global terror anymore, subsequently our military has stood down. That doesn't mean their ideology is dead, it just means that they aren't committing acts of violence to further their goals right now. In the event that they started up again, then our law enforcement and/or military will engage them as they did in the past.
crazy after all these years- Not everyone blames the followers of a violent based religion who's leader/s have tried (and succeeded in your case) to trivialize the "man" we often refer to as "Jesus"(as a "prophet"). The basis of the religion is the real problem, I suppose next you'll try saying that joseph Smith was a saint and martyr too ?
Well tell ya what. You go hunker down in the basement with your survival gear and when they pop their widdle heads out, you let us know, k?
;)
Ummmm, if I did that, I wouldn't be able to alert anyone...
The point I'm trying to make is that the ideals that these groups stand for has lead them to persecute groups in the past, just as al-Qaida does now. However, these groups no longer commit acts of violence on the same scale. To that end, law enforcement and the military don't need to focus the same attention on them as they once did. All that being said, their ideals are still alive and well with the groups that founded them. We're never going to be able to kill an ideal, we can only shun, arrest, and in some cases kill people who commit violence in the name of an ideal.
If most of the terrorists leaders are in Pakistan, what the Hell are we doing in Afghanistan.
Exactly, I was thinking the same thing.
Getting Killed
They were in Afghanistan. But they retreated. So say we start moving into Pakistan, they're going to pull back into other countries where they ares till welcome.
This isn't going to end until every muslim country finally decides to fight against these terrorist organizations.
Justice fleeting, the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan is, for all practical purpose, just an imaginary line.
That is where the drones are flying out of. The Seal team that got Bin Ladden flew out of Afghanistan.
We are many places for many reasons. There are black ops that you need not know about or just dont have the mind to understand. You can say it was obama all allong but it isnt and never was.
100% right.
They left Afghanistan and went to Pakistan. Or maybe I should say our military chased them out.
true. but, unfortunately, it is like Whack-a-Mole. Afghanistan was their safe haven until we chased them ut and they took up residence in an all-too-welcoming Pakistan.
@Justicefleeting, you have to ask, where have you been?
6dogs- I think, it's just a rhetorical question...? @ justice fleeting- there are certain agreements with the Pakis:
1. the US/and West don't want Paki too friendly with Putin or CCP or North Korea
2. the US/West don't want the powder keg to go up
3. the main reason Kharzai's drug dealer brother was left untouched for so long (I wonder where he is now ?)
4. the US pays Paki to "fight terrorism" and "maintain stability" so the longer the terrorists are around the more money the Paki officials make, like Kharzai
This is just a test, people. In the near future, when you have a dissenting opinion of those in power, you will be in the crosshairs. We are already using drones in the U.S., but they just aren't armed....yet.
Yes eiym777 if you are a terrorist in the US you should be fearful. If you are a terrorist abroad you should be fearful. That is the point and we are making the statement that you can run but not forever. Kill them all let alah sort them out.
agreed, give it a few years, and not just on terrorists either, it will be anyone with a dissenting view on the govt.... vote wisely in the upcoming election
Isn't that what we did to the Indians !? We need to stay here and take care of our own problems and let them take care of theirs !!
Don't worry about the US drones, sometime soon one will "accidently" collide with a commercial airliner and that will be the end of drones over US soil, it is going to happen and it won't be long. There is no way unmaned aerial vehicles can avoid human controlled aircraft. To bad we have to wait for the accident but it seems that is the only way we can put them on the ground.
Good shooting! No doubt there is another to fill the spot.
They're just like a box of Kleenex, you take out one and another pops up!
"this is hardly newsworthy. Obama should not even mention it." - Rush Limbot
Drones? Who can profit by that? we need wars
I do have a legitimate question: If we are to discontinue our military involvement throughout the world, and reduce our military expenditures......what do we do to employ all the returning soldiers and military personnel, when we cannot even manage to create jobs for the civilian pool as it stands now????? Not to mention all the jobs that will cease to exist in industries that support and provide supplies for our military......We won't need all this equipment and supply, so where do these people work????
Indeed a legitimate question - and one that has plagued the US at the end of every war since the Civil War. Most likely a recession that will last a very long time, probably until the next war. Right or wrong the US Gov't will support the returning Vets and the civilians currently out of work by increasing taxes (democrat) or borrowing (republican) and spending. This will make things only a little less painful for all involved but will significantly lengthen the time that the pain is felt. There are no "good" or "easy" answers to your question. There are several historical examples of what might happen, Germany after WWI comes to mind.
Sue,
Nobody is saying we eliminate our military involvement across the world. There are about 1.5 million active troops and if we can reduce that by about 10% over the next several years, (more than is being talked about), that isn't a huge number to bring back to the private sector over time. We currently have about 80,000 in Afghanistan. That number is slated to decline over the next couple years down to a smallish base force of somewhere around 15,000 or so by 2014. We're not packing up everywhere by any means.
We spend about $650 billion on the military budget. That isn't going away tomorrow either, but there is room for some cuts. That said, as we get out of the Middle East combat zone, these countries have a need for building their own military forces and replacing some of the stuff we destroyed. We may very likely turn over some equipment, some of which ultimately needs to get replaced. There are some huge military expenditures in the budget that we may really not need anymore. Cutting these is something that plays out over time and its impact on the workforce, although real, will not be so significant.
So relatively small cuts in spending won't cripple the military industrial complex. The fact is that these industries have made a lot of employment cuts over time as their production processes have been modernized. Take the aircraft carriers currently in production and planned. They are bigger, better and more sophisticated, but the workforce required is less than half what it was just a decade or so ago because the whole construction process has been modernized. The point is that downsizing in this industry will happen anyway.
As for not being able to create jobs now. We need to understand why that is. In fact, that is because regardless of the fact that we have a Democratic President, our economic approach to job creation has been mainly the GOP plan. Cut taxes, and downsize government. (That's right, we have cut taxes for corporations, business and the wealthy "job creators" as well as some for the working middle class) The only stimulative spending by government about creating jobs has been about $250 billion spent on Stimulus projects. (The rest was tax cuts and aid to States.) That Stimulus, which is just about run out, has helped and virtually every economist now admit that. Many believe it wasn't big enough. BWe would be far worse without it.
If the GOP in Congress would play ball, we could create some jobs. The President's jobs plan he proposed late last fall would have created at least 2 million jobs and boosted GDP by 2% in the first year. And that is what the financial expert Moody's said, not just Democratic proponents! But the Republican dominated Congress shot that down. The President has also made job proposals that included incentives to hire former military. Shot down. And despite what some might think, the President's jobs plan wasn't going to cost a dime in added debt. It was paid for. In part, things like oil subsidies, corporate jet subsidies and other tax loopholes being closed were what was proposed. Additional funding was coming from some other debt reduction cuts, relatively small, in things like military spending. But Republicans put folks like the oil industry above average Americans. This jobs plan was also about building things like infrastructure. A far better investment than making bombs to blow stuff up. That's how you turn taxpayer dollars into smoke.
The sad reality is that we are mostly running on the GOP jobs plan, counting on the private sector to man up. But it isn't happening. Private business and corporations are sitting on about $2.5 trillion right now and they aren't using it to create jobs. We have cut government jobs by over 600,000 to reduce spending. What we are seeing is not failed Obama policies, but failed GOP policies. Until we start holding Congress accountable for their stonewalling of this President we aren't likely to improve very fast. The facts are crystal clear throughout our history, you must stimulate a recession with government activity. Even Reagan did this growing government significantly while also using trickle down techniques in the private sector. Demand doesn't create itself. No intelligent businessman is going to create jobs if there is no demand for his products and services. You need to jump start things by government directed spending that creates jobs directly. Over time as things pick back up, these jobs shift to the private sector. But Republicans refuse to play. We as a public need to call them out on it. We need to ask why they now oppose plans that in fact many of which came from them in the first place. The President's jobs plan had many bipartisan and Republican devised components in it. He didn't re-invent the wheel, he only collected a variety of ideas that together would help us create jobs again.
But the Republicans like to blame Obama and are only promising more of the same on steroids. Just how much do you need to take from the poor and middle class to give to "job creators" before they actually start creating jobs? The fact is these guys will take that money and create jobs in China if there's more profit in it. That is the fallacy of this approach.
The Europeans took the conservative approach to dealing with the recession, solely focused on cutting spending. They are in big trouble now and their unemployment is closer to 11%. They are now realizing that they need to take a stimulative approach.
There is any easy way out of this and it has been proved throughout our history. We didn't sink into a depression after WWII when millions of troops came home and an enormous military industrial complex no longer had an amazingly huge war machine to build. Instead we created the middle class and many of the war industries switched to building consumer products instead of planes, ships, tanks and bombs. The government needs to direct the recovery. We can not rely on CEOs doing the right thing on their own. They want profit, and if there's more profit creating jobs in China or elsewhere, that's where their money will go.
Time to wake up. Hate this President if you must, but understand that he has the right ideas, Congress just needs to let him be the President and follow his lead instead of doing everything in their power to throw him out of office at the expense of the American citizens. The fact is that virtually everything this President has been able to do on his own without Congress, has been pretty darn successful. This article is a good case in point.
Just about everything he has done on his own has been a dismal failure. He tries to go around the congress and constitution to shove more crap down everyone's throat. Why should conservatives "work with him" when all he wants to do is re-make America to mirror a European style of socialism? Every jobs bill or budget that the republicans have presented for consideration are sitting stacked under Harry Reid's a$$. Who is not working with who? Poor Obama. He had a democrat house and senate the first two years he was in office and now cries that the repubs (who only control the house) won't play right. We need a leader.
Thank you. Even when we have a success, like killing OBL, Obama always has to throw a bone to the Muslims, like giving out the information on the doctor. Or giving Iran a drone. Obama is a traitor to this country.
bevvar-
President Obama wouldn't be the first or the last to give away sensitive information, it's allowed to be done every day on the news, by our own incompetent Homeland Security and government officials. Do you think it started during this presidency ? HA, what a joke !!
Instead of making this an emotive arguement between Demoncraps and Repugnants; how about just looking at what President Obama has or has not done and the Results. Since everyone b!tches about my long posts I will NOT list everything (go do your own Research starting January 21, 2009).
The worst is Senator Liebermann, he Officially Confirmed our US Military Asymmetric Warfare attached to the CIA SAD/SOG Activities during President Obama's 4 SECRET Wars. With the Result being: a. everyone knew what we were doing; b. The Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists at those Nations started offering Dead or Alive Rewards for us; c. The Locals started becoming Bounty Hunters actively searching for us to collect the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists Dead or Alive Rewards; d. The locals that previously ignored us or thought we were Fundamentalist Islamic Foreign Fighters started to scrutinize our activities; e. The Nations US Ally Governments demanded that we decrease our activities (especially since their Governments Officially Denied our involvements in their Sovereign Nations).
otto,
"President Obama wouldn't be the first or the last to give away sensitive information, it's allowed to be done every day on the news, by our own incompetent Homeland Security and government officials."
But the difference between the President releasing classified information, and the news media releasing it is that the President of the United States is the ultimate classification authority. Everything that is classified is classified by his authority. So he has considerable leeway in determining whether or not it should be released.
I am. No more UN Missions. Demand that the United States of America get out of the United Nations until the Chinese and Russian Federation do their Fair Share, instead of their activities against the Majority of what the United Nations demands.
Previous United Nations Missions (aka League of Nations):
UN Mission French Indochina. End of WWII, US Military to hold French Indochina until French can reoccupy their former Colony after the Japanese leave.
UN Police Action Korea (aka Korean War).
UN Police Action French Indochina (aka Vietnam War).
UN Mission (Sanctions) Iraq (US Military Training Teams sent to US Ally Iraq during the Iran Iraq Wars).
UN Mission (Sanctions) Afghanistan (US Military Operation Cyclone).
UN Missions Somalia I and UN Mission Somalia II (aka "Blackhawk Down" of Operation Gothic Serpent).
UN Mission (Observers) Sudan.
UN Mission Bosnia Serbia.
UN Mission (Observers) South Ossetia, Georgia (Nation), Abkhazia.
UN Mission (Sanctions) Kuwait (Liberation of Kuwait).
UN Mission (Sanctions) Iraq (First Gulf War).
UN Mission Afghanistan (UN Nation Building).
UN Mission Iraq (UN Nation Building).
UN Mission Libya (UN Resolution, later on UN Nation Building).
And take a rough guess who is paying for all those UN Missions, US Taxpayers. Do not even give the excuse NATO, without researching why the Ultimate Commander of NATO is SACEUR a US Military General or Admiral.
How about this Research where the Majority of the $650 Billion is actually going, starting with President Obama's and Secretary of Defense Leon Penetta's 2012, "A 10% US Military Defense Budget Cut will result in a Million (US) Civilians becoming Unemployed".
Really, ask Senator Harry Reid why the Hell he is sitting on many of President Obama's Jobs Proposals. And by the way President Obama as President (Presidential Powers) can by Executive Order or Presidential Policy (if he wants to take Full Responsibility for Success or Failure) circumvent US Congress.

Hell yes!
Great job - Go Obama-Biden. President Obama is the greatest Commander in Chief I've known in my life
Vietnam Vet 5th Special Forces
VOMIT!!!!!!
Your kidding right??? Yea, I'm sure it was Obama who planned this out.
Agent Orange?
I feel safer than I did four years ago.
U.S. Navy Wife
Obama 2012
My dad was 5th in 68-69 in Song Be, he voted Obama and thought Bush/Cheney were traitors, so your not alone dls. Bud Jones is a wanna be.
My father was a Vietnam Vet, Purple Heart/Bronze Star recipient, and he thinks this President is a disaster.
Dude where is my car!
Safer? Seriously?
Obama is only doing his job, using the assets of the US military/intelligence community to take out enemies of our country. Any president, Repub or Dem, would do the same, that is in the job description.
Dis... Really??? I quess he missed his calling for not volunteering for active duty. Big difference between playing arm chair warrior and getting up close and personal. Perhaps you have forgotten...
Thank you President Obama, our miltary and our intelligence community for working so hard to make us safe here at home and abroad. Rooting out this terrorist organization will take decades as hatred against us and our ideals will live forever, but killing Osama Bin Laden was a huge step in making us safer and providing some justice for 911. It's nice to know that President Obama and his team have been so diligent on pursuing these terrorists, when others criticized him for wanting to go into Pakistan to get them and simply hung a "mission accomplished" banner.
@Ophotfoot--Glad to see your immaturity showing through. Name calling is always such a show of intelligence, when one has no facts. Get ready to say goodbye to your beloved messiah come November!
amerikan-2051576
as opposed to Bush avoiding vietnam service and joining the texas air guard and not doing his duty and Cheney got what 7 deferments for Vietnam? lol... At least under Obamas watch we have not had a complete failure of national security and a handful of peasants with box cutters changed our entire culture and created a much larger government and an entire extra government agency...
Stop dls, you're embarrassing yourself.
@ Alan
Did you ever serve?
If enemy leaders are neutralized under the orders of Cmder-in-Chief Obama, it's just part of his job description. Any President Tom, Dick or Harry would have done that.
It's what he has NOT done that matters: like he hasn't reduced the price of gasoline to 21 cents/gal. He hasn't ended the drought across the western US. Shucks, he hasn't even been able to get a good Cabernet out of tap water yet.
The proper execution of one's job does not negate the unrefutable claim that one has failed - at least not in eyes of those who make such claims.
The grass is blue. The sky is green. That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.
oh yeah?? my daddy....
Bud Jones, You accuse others of name calling. Yet you refer to the prsident as "The Messiah," which is about the lowest of the low brow remarks on here. Name calling totally devoid of wit or intelligence.
Dang Ophotfoot,, An I thought you were going to tell us What branch of Our Great Military Obama Served?? Oh thats right He didnt
lonewolf123,
Uh.. ever heard of Commander in Chief? That is a military title. He works for all branches of our military genius, he is their boss. His picture is at the top of every chain of command in every U.S. Military Headquarters Building on the planet earth. He just doesn't dress up like a service member and fly to aircraft carriers sitting off our coast and announce "mission accomplished"when it clearly was not, for a political point only to later eat his own words and cause the deaths of countless service members from his bragging BS.
You really would have a completely different perspective if you were still part of the 5th Special Forces Group (after their AOR changed to the "Middle East"). Yes, at the very beginning I wore the Redacted as "Middle East" Qualified (first language learned Farsi, then Arabic), before I grew up (too many times being attached to Redacted, and still the Redacted demand that we be attached to them.).
And your Rank or Grade is. That's Right you are still a US Civilian (not US Military Service Members risking our lives) . Yes, your support is appreciated by US Military Service Members that are actually sacrificing (risking our lives). Still waiting for the USAF and USN to eliminate them getting "Participation" Medals and Awards while not even setting foot in any of these Nations (like their counterpart USN Corpsmen, USN SEALs, USAF STTs, etc.).
Why don't you listen to the WHOLE context of his speech on youtube.com (accomplishment of the US Military Overthrow of President Hussein in accordance with US Law, H.R.4655, the next phase of the mission being UN Mission Nation Building of Iraq.).
Then ask sandy-1851937 , U.S. Navy Wife, about all the "Mission Accomplished" banners put on all USN Ships and USN Boats after completing each Mission (not the entire War) before sailing into port for the Family Reunions, until the Secretary of the Navy put an end to this USN Tradition.
That was YOUR dad/father NOT YOU.
add/change to post #16.20:
(unlike their counterpart USN Corpsmen, USN SEALs, USAF STTs, etc. that EARNED those Medals, Awards, etc. by being "On the Ground" risking their lives at these Nations).
Nice job USAF....keep pecking away. At some point these verminous, religious psychopaths will make their current subterranean rat hole a permanent location, never to appear at the surface again. Then we bring in the bunker busters loaded with rat poison. I wonder how many hours of sleep, if any, these homicidal cretins actually get?
Kudos to the CIA is also in order....
CEO, the only problem with that scenario is that corned rats will fight back and dang it if rats can't find the tiniest of escape holes. Like a poster above said, the only sure way is to change the ideology
Any chance you might give just a tiny bit of credit to the Commander and Chief? You know, the guy who sets the policy.
No doubt, this is the strategy that was prescribed by Biden quite a while ago, but clearly he has got President Obama on board and now he is running with it full bore.
I am convinced that our overall strategy and less harsh treatment of the local populations has contributed to a great deal of intelligence on these guys. Bottom line is that these terrorists, terrorize fellow Muslim brothers more than they do us and a lot of them are getting sick of it. No need to be rounding up people and torturing them to get information. "You catch more flieswith honey than with vinegar." Al Qaida and its affiliates are becoming a pest in the Muslim world and not all these people are "natural" supporters.
1NewDay - gimme a break.....I promise you, the community organizer was somewhere else when all this was going down, like at a fund raiser or on the golf course. And Biden usually has no idea where he's even at, much less directing operations. If you want to give credit....give it to Bush, who set up the program to begin with. As far as catching more flies with honey versus vinegar...you'll catch more with a dead rat.
American-2051576 ; "the only sure way is to change the ideology." Good luck with that approach.....see you in 2-3 hundred years, if ever.
well said ceo, too bad some liberal will collapse your comment any second now
But when Bush W. had the greatest military/security failure the USA has ever seen on its soil, he was a "hero" for lying to get us in a war with a country that had absolutely nothing to do with it. I'm sure when the next republican president is elected everything under the sun even massive failures will again be honoring him. Whatever makes you sleep at night. At least under Obama a handful of peasants with... box cutters... have not changed our culture and outsmarted our entire military. Leadership comes from the top, they teach that in the military for a reason. Fakes and charlatans like Bush W. and Cheney will never get that nor will their mindless followers.
Ophotfoot,
The Facts seem to make you seem so uneducated uninformed etc.
Yes, because of what happened during President Bush (43). How about this get some education, starting with reading Historically Documented FACTS:
http://www.9-11commission.gov/report/911Report.pdf
And Research about how President Clinton's Gutting of the US Intelligence Agencies created "Intelligence Blackouts" throughout the World, the loss of Millions of credible verifiable Intelligence Assets that took decades to put in place (what former Director of the CIA, President Bush (41) did as his "Empire Building" of the CIA to increase his Political Influence and obtain more US Congressional Appropriations). The US then having to rely on "information" (not even intelligence) from "Potentially Hostile" Nations like Jordan and Pakistan. Also President Clinton's Cut to the Bone Reduction In Forces (RIFs) of the US Military eliminated many US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces that independently verify US Intelligence Agencies "Intelligence" thru Special Surveillance and Special Reconnaissance that then becomes "Actionable Intelligence".
How about watching this about why we went into Afghanistan (the Missions, not "get Osama" as against the US No Assassination Policy):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arxKhJIjIiY
After our Mission at Afghanistan we started to chase the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists (above link) along the Southern Old Silk Road and US Congress demanded we stop pursuit and the killings of them with extreme prejudice before we violated the Sovereign Nations of Tajikistan, the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran, the Islamic Nation of Iraq.
To make everything legal to attack these Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists that escaped into the Fundamentalist Islamic Kurdistanis controlled Northern Iraq, President Bush pushed for the US Law, 2002 Iraqi War Resolution so that we could enter Northern Iraq augmented by the US Army's 10th Special Forces Group to attack these Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists that regrouped from Afghanistan as Ansar Al Islam as 2002 Operation Hotel California. The other Missions of 2002 Operation Hotel California were in accordance with US Law H.R.4655 "Iraqis Liberation Act of 1998" justification Section 2 "Findings" Weapons of Mass Destruction; becoming US Military Operation Iraqis Freedom, like the capture of the Iraqis Chemical Weapons Facility at Sargat, etc..
You might want to do the Research into the above that I listed, before making that kind of hypocritical statement.
Good news. These guys continue to get ratted out at a almost phenomenal rate. Kudos to the CIA and the Obama Administration for a great strategy. You have to realize that the way we are getting to these guys out in the middle of nowhere is because they are being ratted out by the local tribal leaders who have no use for them either. This is evidence of a turning tide. I am sure the Pakistanis are getting sick of getting used and abused by Al Qaida and its affiliates in the remote tribal regions. You can be certain that it isn't just satellite and surveillance that is finding these guys, we are getting real on the ground intelligence from the people in the region and we're getting it without torturing people.
Now that we are searching in the right places, we are taking down al-Qaida. I would like to say thanks to the troops overseas.
Drones - a terrorist weapon supported by the clones of anti-society in the world.
Truthin,
What's your address we have a drone just for you.
Aren't all Al Qaida members #2? If you see what I mean. "Truthin". You are Muhktar. Mitch will find you. ""Lyin" is more your speed. Hey...you have snot on your towel....
It almost seems that the Muslim world does not enjoy receiving unexpected explosions as much as they enjoy dishing them out. Gosh, that's really too bad. We have a substantial amount of ordinance and technology we are willing to share with you.
BOOM!
This dirtbag was way at the top of what is left of AQ. The scroungy Egyptiam pediatrician with the "prayerburn" on his forehead cannot be "too far away."
I suppose that Mo Romney will diss President Obama for cancelling this terrorist dirbag's ticket!"
Way to go President Obama!
LTC Rattus, USA, ret.
obama had nothing to do with this...it was our military....even tho im sure he'll take credit for it......
President Obama carries cards of the world's top terrorists with him and reviews them with top military leaders daily. Our military doesn't get to simply send bombs whenever and whereever they want. it may be inconvenient for you to realize that President Obama is heavily involved in the strategy of rooting out and killing these terrorists, but you need to wake up and give credit where its due.
you act like obama did it alone.can you at least say go america or something like that.its a proven fact that obama is the worst one america has had yet.do some real research and learn.i bet you would'nt vote for him again.god help america!!!
everwidening,
You can't really believe that can you? Do you think the military, (and the CIA, who BTW is who is conducting these attacks, not the military), act independently without the President involved? The President sets the strategy. He may not collect the intel and plan the missions himself, but he gives the orders.
Those of you that hate this President so badly that it defies all logic and you lose sight of how things work, really disgust me. You hate Obama, we get it. But have the human decency and patriotism to give the guy the credit he deserves.
Wrong buffalo breath. Obama approves every drone strike against Al Qaeda leaders.
Read it and sweep.

Who says there never any good news reported by the media. Good riddance to another POS.
Hey Jeff.....I see you're a 9/11 conspiracy proponent......how does it feel to be one of the most mentally challenged people on the face of the planet? Are you really that gullible (i.e. stupid)? Do you belong to a conspiracy club and have meetings?? I bet you live in the basement and sleep with a light on? You mindless dolt.
Wow...how did you know ceo? You're an amazing fellow to be sure. Only missed one key point - I live in your mom's basement.
You're the gullible one, sir. And I say that with the utmost respect. I appreciate you and your spirited banter.
My mom passed away 5 years ago....what, are you in to necrophilia? Why am I not surprised.....
Because you're amazing...dare I say genius? A rare find...I think you and I will be friends long after this thread becomes a distant, faded memory.
Right buddy?
STFU.....
Ahh yes...spoken like a true intellectual. Bet you pull hair too.
P.S. you never helped us out with your expert testimonial of how the Twin Towers fell perfectly into their own footprint. While your at it, please also explain how those hacks wer able to fly commercial jets with such precision yet were incapable of completing flight training.
I understand one of them couldn't even land a crop duster.
Must be easier to pull a tight turn in a 757, fly about 50 feet off the ground, and run into the Pentagon than it is to simply land a little PAC Cresco.
jeffela
Tell me, how does it feel to be totally stupid, to make claims THAT HAVE BEEN ALL DEBUNKED WAY LONG AGO already, get over it and move on. You were there? you must have seen the 130 1st hand witnesses that observed the plain hit the Pentagon, but don't believe the press and photographs either, but you trust????? Conspirators you never heard of, what a friggin joke!
BY the way, I have suit for sale worn by Elvis just last week, I have PROOF, it must be true because the mainstream media won't believe me.. for you this week its on sale...
AWESOME...thanks. Actually, I already have one. Jim Morrison gave it to me...
You're really cool, just a little late, Truant.
bahahahahahahahahah .. I wonder if they knew that 911 would literally blow up in their faces. I DID! say hi to Osama for us please!
That headline? ""BREAKING NEWS: US officials confirm al-Qaida’s No. 2 leader killed by CIA drone strike"? Yeah... Filed under "rank propaganda of early 21st century U.S.A." Someday, we'll look back on this and it will all seem so ugly and self defeating.
Why do I get the feeling you are right?
Anyway I feel safer already. Go USA!
Ya, Its like what everyone was trying to say for 6 years of color coded danger announced on the news every day during the Bush Quagmire... Now at least his cabinet members admit it was a load of BS designed as propaganda for winning elections using fear as a tool. It was much better when everyone was supposed to be scared than it is now when we are not being told daily to be scared and the leaders of the "enemy" Bush described are actually being dealt with. Bush W. refused to go to the ground zero ceremony for the victims after Bin Laden was killed and went as far as to say he was not happy Bin Laden was killed. I guess he was closer to Bin Laden than the photos of them shaking hands suggested.
Barak Obama is a muslim name, he had a muslim mother and father. He is a wolf in sheeps clothing and has America in state of rapid decline. You are just as fool spreading lies and disinformation like Obama. You and him do terrible harm to this once great nation, and I say once because you elected a determental demon like you.
who wants to be next? step right up...
